If you honestly believe that then you seriously have gone down in my estimations. Lets call every black person a N then, while we are at it we will call every german a N***i. My only hope is that maybe now any future use of any of these words will be dealt with more harshly, I for one support the actions of admins on this one.

Your suspicions are correct. One thing that always surprised me after I started playing allegiance again was how this little bit of history got twisted.

I, playing as Falnyx@Alleg at the time, was one of the first people to learn of YP's discovery of the extra VC's. I immediately pulled him into a private chat and got all the details from him that I could. My next step was to forward the information up the @Alleg chain-of-command towards the devs at high priority, and instruct YP to keep the info quiet to prevent the spread/increase of people with the ability to generate CG's. YP, of course, blatantly ignored that request, and proceeded to basically spam the in-game chat with links to his modified VC file, claiming it would "protect" downloaders from being CG'd (that was true, but at the cost of enabling them to CG those who didn't have the "patch"). Mayhem ensued, enter Guns22 et al. YP did not "save" Allegiance -- he hammered the first nail in its coffin.

All that to say, YP has a proven track record of openly defying admins when he doesn't get his way or doesn't like an admin's response. After this latest display, he should probably be disciplined heavily.

EDIT: now with 55% fewer misunderstandings.

To everyone calling this a rant or silly please understand a good deal of this community's dysfunctional nature stems from the aftermath and definitely caused the crippling of the game. I dont know how many times ive seen the word faggot used at someone rather then someone admitting to being one!

i'll respect those with problems of words i use in RL, but ffs, this is a game on the intraweb! There's pr0n out there that would offend more people than the word faggot.

Maybe your unaware that faggot is as strong a slur as the classic racial and ethnic ones. Your comfort with saying it amongst your friends and team mates not withstanding can you dream of saying to me, if I was gay, and it offended me? I'd hope and guess not. Have I said it to others yep but would never dream of saying it to those it offends.

The WWII political party name ban is across forums, chat rooms and IRC, I think it's incrediblely stupid but many who I respect feel different so I don't use it. If I wanted a policy change I'd discuss it not get the $#@!ing forum shut down.

You might not believe this, but YP's intention was never to "shut the forums down". It was to express his dismay at what he felt was unjust "censorship" by 'overzealous' Administrators. Shutting things down was all Pook.

Exactly, if I knew any word offended somebody, I would make my best attempt to never use said word in their presence, sarcastically or not. Online is a different story though, if I use a word that supposedly offends somebody, whats to say they aren't just trying to make a scene. I will still try to refrain from using it, but you can't tell a person's personality on the net.

Wow -- what a read. I had a few moments this moring and logged onto forums -- only to NOT log onto forums. A shudder wnet down my spine. I logged into game -- sill up and playing, although no one answered my question about what happened to forums. THose early moring EU guys -- what stoics.

Anyway, when some folks say 'it is only a game' (and I have said it too), it is really not true. Our virtual community is just as interesting and mucked up as our real life world. Problems manifest themselves in different ways, but the same basic principals of human nature apply.

MrC and Falnyx -- the history lesson is infomrative.

YP (or Censored), sorry that you don't see the value Pook and the other admins brought to the game -- they are considered the honest borkers in here and do a reasonalby good job.

I really don't understand your decision to lay it out there on this issue. I have said in other posts that, if I were offended by someone's nick, I would PM that person -- not run to the admin. I would suggest others do the same. I guess you must be impulsive and also not have a good sense of timing. GL with that.

For others posting about 'faggots' being offensive -- it is. ANd you also realize that language and words ARE important. What you call someone matters -- so think before you speak or type.

My final words of advice -- if you find you are so angry about someone or something and youjust HAVE to post it here -- get up from the computer, go take a walk and stay away for at least 15 minutes. The urge will pass and your reputation will not suffer.
