It depends on your faction and tech.

Usually 1-2 prox, 8-12 df missiles, 0-1 ammo. Plus the nan.

Your poll sucks.

It needs a "Always carry a nan unless I need something more important in the cargo slot" option.

like: When the game starts and I rush the enemy home. I've got nothing but dumbfires.

As for booting someone, as the question indicates it would be for not having it and needing it. Fairly open ended question, were you in a sector where a miner died and you couldn't nan it, or any number of similar reasons.
