Well I, for one, was up sleepless all night worried about whether or not the death of that one random American was something I could pin on Jong-un's soul. My god it is disappointing to learn that the President would not consider this Kim's fault in particular.

On a non-sarcastic note, it is pretty $#@!ing pathetic that DJT feels the need to say that. It's like one time he saw someone do a negotiation that played on someone else's conscience and was like, "Gee, I dunno, maybe it's just a tactic that works" and threw it out randomly. Jong-un doesn't give a $#@!. It just comes across as a weird non-sequitur. If it went through a translator, I bet Jong-un is like what the christ are you sure that's what he said that makes no sense. And I wouldn't be surprised if his reaction on the video is the same reaction that every goddamn Asian American gives whenever some @#$%@# white dude is saying gibberish at them. "Oh, uh-huh, yeah," while thinking to himself "jesus $#@!ing christ why am I talking to this moron."

Trump wants to ease tensions with North Korea by doing smaller military exercises.
Is that a bad thing or should the US keep pressure North Korea?
As Americans I'm curious what your thoughts are.

As for the Otto Warmbier comments, Trump did back pedal and say he does blame North Korea for his death.
I'm not sure of the specific details but if Otto was arrested when Obama was the President and he did nothing, at least Trump got him released.
Again curious on your opinions about how that all played out

There is nothing that will "ease tensions" with North Korea. Their entire government is founded on the idea of "$#@! America." The Kim family literally has power because they are the great protectors of the worker's revolution from the evil of the United States of America. If tensions become eased, the legitimacy of the Kim government disappears, and the country devolves into Juche warlords.

It's not clear that this won't be happening within the next decade or two anyways, and that Kim's nuclear tests and aspirations are an attempt to hold off the inevitable collapse of his regime.

But I suspect that the outcome of North Korea will be utterly unrelated to anything the United States does. There's not enough information penetration for good-deeds to matter and they'll be bold-faced lying on their news about the evil thing the US says they're going to do. Pretty much the only effect DJT has had so far is to preside over a pair of manufactured humanitarian crisis that lend credence to the internal propaganda of NK.

I base this on having a very, tiny, cursory knowledge of Korean history and a tiny bit of knowledge about post-colonial nation building. The rest is pure speculation, but speculation I'm confident in because it's the only route that really makes sense to me. Kim won't let knowledge that weakens him enter his country, and the only real threat to their country is internal at this point imo. I suspect China could collapse it, but for now seems disinterested in doing so.

I think two things:

1) I think it's interesting that the other explanation comes to mind. Trump "got him released"? The kid died almost immediately after being returned. Perhaps it was the US people who were being played... an attempt to make us think Trump is a strong leader. Have you seen any real evidence of the "strength" of Trump's leadership? Look at all the people who've plead guilty and testified against him. Does he SEEM like he attracts honest people? That he's trustworthy? That he surrounds himself with trustworthy people??

2) I think beyond its impact in convincing people that Trump is actually a strong President (he is demonstrably not, and if you still don't see that I don't know what you're looking at) who Gets Things Donetm, the "release" of that kid made absolutely no difference to anything or anyone outside of exactly the family who got to bury their kid. Politically this was nothing.

Robert Kraft, friend of Donald J Trump, is caught up in a sex trafficking bust in Jupiter, FL where DJT has a golf course, which is only 20 minutes or so from Mar-A-Largo, where Donald Trump has been seen being very friendly with a founder of that massage parlor, who we are being very, very, very well assured by the right-wing media did not actually own the establishment at the time of the bust.

Meanwhile, Melania Trump has recently procured licensing and trademarks for spas branded in her name, and a line of spa goods, in both China and Russia.

It's not clear exactly what Donald Trump has on Sen. Lindsey Graham, but the good lord gave me the ability to add 2 and 2. Also I think I've figured out how Trump *actually* makes his money and why he won't let us see his tax returns. How do you think they got Capone?

P1 did you mean Ivanka Trump?
I couldn't find any news about Melania Trump being awarded trademarks in China and/or Russia but I did find lots of news about Ivanka being awarded Chinese trademarks.

It seem to me you are painting DJT as being guilty by association because he watched the Superbowl with the old owner of the the spa where Kraft was arrested.
Perhaps this is only a coincidence?

Perhaps it is a coincidence that a Trump supporter who happens to be a very famous billionaire was busted as part of a sex trafficking ring that occurred 20 minutes away from the place that DJT spends most of his time.

Perhaps it is also a coincidence that the founder of the massage parlor where the sex trafficking occurred was at many campaign events and photographed in very close proximity to DJT.

It's certainly a reasonable conclusion. For my part, here's what I suspect the truth is:

DJT at the very least knew that many people who traveled to his resort were going for sex at this particular massage parlor. DJT also knew that the massage parlor was utilizing human trafficking to "supply" its services.

If I was a betting woman, I would put money on DJT advertising the existence of the massage parlor as one of the reasons to attend his nearby resort in his whisper campaign among his close, chummy, billionaire personal buddies like Kraft. Furthermore, given DJT's own history, I find it... absurdly probable that DJT has "sampled" the particular parlor involved.

Perhaps your reasonable conclusion is actually correct and that wouldn't surprise me at all.
He wouldn't be the first rich dude to do something like that.

In my previous post I never mentioned what you brought up about Sen. Lindsey Graham mainly because I have no idea what you are referring to.

He went from "DJT would be the worst thing imaginable for the US and all of these policy things he's suggesting are awful for our country" to "oh my god DJT is just the best thing ever and a gift from god" in the span of 6 months. We're talking about a guy who once said that if Ted Cruz was murdered on the senate floor and the jury were Senators, no one would vote to convict. We're talking about a guy who went on the Daily Show to rip trump.

I've... seen a lot from DJT and have seen absolutely nothing from him that would inspire an immediate turnaround in loyalty. The various investigations, etc., into him and his colleagues lend further credence: DJT does not convince. DJT threatens and coerces. Soooooooo... what did he threaten/coerce Lindsey Graham with? Graham either got something or is avoiding something.

Now, the "biggest open secret" in DC is that Graham (unmarried, never had a girlfriend) is gay. That in and of itself wouldn't ruin his political career, even as a Republican lawmaker. All he has to say is something to the effect of "I have sinful urges like everyone else and resist them because I love God" or some bull@#(! like that. Then his entire fundy base can be all "seeeeeee we don't hate homosexuals we just disapprove of homosexuality" and pirouette about themselves pretending like somehow that makes them NOT hateful bigots. But there is one thing that could really get Graham and get him out of politics forever (and possibly in prison): if he has had, or has, sexual partners... how did he meet them and why do they have sex with him?

If I was QAnon, Radulfr, Elzam, Metz, Minigun, etc., and Graham was a Democrat, I might go in on some angle combining Goebbel's very famous "accuse the other side of that which you are guilty," point to the stupid $#@!ing pizzagate thing, and be all "hm perhaps Graham's sexual partners are little boys in the basement of some otherwise law-abiding business that Graham frequents." But... I doubt it. I suspect it's a bit more mundane:

I suspect Graham has fairly regular sex and regularly attends a sort of bathhouse. I suspect Trump knows about it. I suspect Trump blackmailed him politically over it.

Now, if it turns out that the bathhouse he attends is actually a "happy ending" massage parlor with human trafficking victims, I wouldn't even be particularly surprised. Mostly I'm just trying to assume the best of Graham: he's gay, he has sex with men, Trump knows where he has sex with men, so Trump used that to leverage Graham's support.

The alternate explanation is that Graham has no principles or morals besides doing what it takes to get elected.

There are plenty of never-Trump Republicans out there; the common thing that unites them is that none of them hold office anymore, and therefore don't have to face publicly disagreeing with 80% of their base.

I would hardly be surprised if Graham was gay. I would be surprised if a) Trump is privy to information no one else knows about Graham and b) Graham was capable of being blackmailed over it by Trump.
