think that's just sup in generalOne-Man-Bucket wrote:QUOTE (One-Man-Bucket @ Oct 11 2017, 02:21 AM) i think figbees are pretty good as is. or at least i'd like to see them used in more 15v15 (or bigger) games before tweaking them. I suspect that they are quite powerful once game sizes increase.

This was almost exactly my thought on the subject. I talked with some people on Discord (mostly Metz, Terran, Vogue, and a few others) and reached a conclusion that galv runs are super fun. You're either in a mad dash to kill everything before your base dies or you're madly trying to dodge, boosting circles, and doing your damndest to stay alive and keep your gun on the base.Lykourgos wrote:QUOTE (Lykourgos @ Oct 17 2017, 10:44 AM) Sup needs an endgame win condition and it should involve fighter swarms, I don't have any real opinion about whether that should involve FBs or "heavy galvs" or any similar thing.
Figbees feel like they're close at replicating that experience. To me there's something exciting about that final "go" order when you're ripping and thinking, "oh @#(!, how many hvies are going to be there when we pop in? Will I even finish ripping?" Then you rip in and you quickly turn yourself to face the base and start boosting and praying. Then, if you're like me, after you get podded you immediately pop into F3 and start counting. "Ok, I got one, need six more. There's one, five more. Three. Two. One. C'MON LAST MISSILE LAST MISSILE HE GOT IT OFF WE GOT THE EXP!"
I've always rather loved that style of gameplay both watching and participating in it. The only downside I ever saw was that it's rather difficult to defend against in large games. This isn't necessarily bad, but a conversation that Weedman was having while I happened to be around lead me to believe that established vets might dislike that gameplay.
Since this thread and the conversations I've had in Discord, I appear to have misunderstood Weedman and it looks like figbees are a valued addition to the game, though they may need to be tweaked in some ways to assure proper balance (much like everything). Frankly, I'm relieved: for a second I thought I was just crazy and the only person who enjoyed figbees!
Thank you all for your contributions!

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.

I wouldn't say they are super fun ... get six fighters or so to an aleph uneyed and they're all but a mathematical certainty. Heavy boost in particular makes them not fun to defend against.phoenix1 wrote:QUOTE (phoenix1 @ Oct 17 2017, 01:21 PM) I talked with some people on Discord (mostly Metz, Terran, Vogue, and a few others) and reached a conclusion that galv runs are super fun.
Figbees are much more fun, partly because the whole team has 15 seconds warning that some crazy @#(! is about to go down. Plus it's such a turkey shoot that even if the base dies, you can't be mad you podded so many figbees.

Now now, you being crazy has not been definitively ruled out, all that we've established is that it has nothing to do with figbees.

Figbees are cool the way they are. Although at larger games, as most like endgame it would need some tweaking. Maybe giving it some special ab (just like nukes in sy, maybe a bit faster)?phoenix1 wrote:QUOTE (phoenix1 @ Oct 17 2017, 06:21 PM) I've always rather loved that style of gameplay both watching and participating in it. I remember Sup endgame went from TP2 XRM Heavy Bombers to figbees as soon as the former was nerfed. However, I wouldn't be opposed to a lvl1/ lvl2 more suitable AB weapon as opposed to them getting parallel tech with AB3, just to boost the (relative to XRM 2 HB) lower cost. Heavy galv sounds cool, but it doesn't scale fit with Sups current missile GAs either.
Edit: IMO unless genius strikes and you find the perfect balance, I'd prefer they were left as is.

I would prefer to see more tp2.
also more traditional bomb runs
galving is fun yeah
I never liked the fighter bomber concept.
I have an idea.
