Guys, guys, guys... I have a question for YOU!

How do you feel about fighterbombers? Do you like their gameplay? Hate their gameplay? Wish it was different?

What if figbees carried heavy galvs and flew more like fighters?

What if figbees were removed?

Let me know!

Gameplay is fine IMO.

Flew more like fighters = faster, I presume? So we get the joy of futilely trying to chase swarms of against techbase galvers the same way we get to futilely chase them for small bases? Seems a step backwards.

Then sup needs some other tech that is equally strong as TP2 figbees. If you think those are lame, then TP2 XRM is ten times as lame. AB3 AC3 Nan3 heavy bombers are great in open space, but mini3 / prox2 still stops them cold at the aleph (as it should).

Sounds like somebody's team didn't probe
phoenix1 wrote:QUOTE (phoenix1 @ Jul 22 2017, 05:58 PM) Mini ac gunner mount was removed because somewhere along the lines we had a core dev that said, "I really hate Terran and want him to be miserable." And all core devs ever since have agreed.

Successful fb runs are one of the most gratifying experiences in Allegiance, removing them would feel like a mistake to me unless something equally hard to setup was added. The teamwork involved is the important aspect IMO.

This might be an interesting change if fbs went to a middle ground between current fbs and adv figs. You would probably only have to tweak cruise boost numbers and fb mass? I don't know enough about the hard numbers to really say more. This feels like a change you'd have to be ready to just revert if it sucked.

Pls no. Not entirely at least.

What if Weedcore 04 became the new standard?

TBH i miss DN and Noir's "flavor of the month cheese".

Weed mentioned in game to me that he thought maybe figbees should be removed. When a guy like that suggests something, I tend to listen. I thought about it and I decided to ask the community because I know how *I* feel about figbees (I think they're great) but I was curious what the community at large thought about figbees.

And if EoR was a balanced core that fostered competitive play, then yeah I guess I *am* trying to make EoR all over again? More like I'm trying to make RPS but without adding seven layers of tech.

I can only speak for myself of course, but i felt EoR was a painful re balancing that didn't do anything to foster competitive game play and really only served to pleasure the person who made it as there own version of what allegiance should be.

As far as figbees go, in all my years I've never seen them utilized as a goto game winner and i can only assume if someone were to remove them it's because they decided they aren't viable enough to be included anymore. The amount of cost and coordination required to use them effectively seem rather prohibitive and i wouldn't want to see them perked to cheese levels but they really only serve as a last resort when all you have available to you is sup. I'd say leave them in, because if your down to just your sup then you'll have no effective means of going on offense because your other alternative is to tp 2 regular bombers.

i think figbees are pretty good as is. or at least i'd like to see them used in more 15v15 (or bigger) games before tweaking them. I suspect that they are quite powerful once game sizes increase.
