I was in command for 36-39 minutes before I had to give up my post for RL. I was not in command the entire time but most of the time (hence the bold in the leaderboard).everywhere116 wrote:QUOTE (everywhere116 @ Jan 25 2015, 07:14 PM) Were you in command the entire time or did it just say you were commander because you were the last to leave or something?

Thanks to everyone who showed up. That was more fun than I expected. I'm sure most people expected a disaster. Glad we took a chance at something different.

My recollections: Purple went Giga, all three of the other teams went Bios. I'm pretty sure every team had one of every techbase (except SY) at some point, except for Green which went Bios Tac, and Purple bought and built specmines too. Green lost their Tac and their original Garrison to Yellow pretty early thanks to a bomber+standard TT run, and then just tried to bomb $#@!ing everything until Yellow found wherever their second Garrison was and put them out of their misery, then HTTed all of Green's bases.
After that, Yellow, Blue, and Purple took turns hurling SBs, HTTs, and TP2 figbee runs at each other while cranking out as many techbases and probes as they could, until literally every single techrock on the map was consumed, except for four C rocks in Yellow's territory. The cycle of building and destroying ended up creating a large buffer zone between Yellow and the other teams (particularly Purple) while Purple and Blue's weakpoints were close to each other, and so those two proceeded to grind each other apart with SBs and HTTs while Yellow fired off probative attacks at whichever one seemed more vulnerable. Finally, Blue lost a couple of important bases to Purple, at which point Yellow jumped on them as well and Blue was promptly crushed between the two. Also, somewhere around this time passed command to Sheff and left.
Purple and Yellow had it out with each other for a while, but Giga light bases hadn't fared well against the constant onslaught of random SBs from two directions, so Purple had already been whittled down to only a few sectors while Yellow owned half the map and all remaining tech rocks. All Purple had left was an Exp, a Garr or two, and maybe a Sup, whereas Yellow had like three Tacs, two Exps, two Garrs, and I'm pretty sure at least one Sup. Well, despite that, it was a huge map and $#@!ing everything was probed, so it was a tough fight for both sides. Yellow was able to prevent Purple from expanding and kill any new bases they sent out (mostly with SBs), and slowly tightened the noose around Purple, eventually killing our last Sup before we could get a TP2 figbee run out, and then killing the Exp, and finally thwarting our last attempt to push a Sup con next to one of Yellow's sectors.

3 Sups, 2 Exps (was 3 but blue SB'd 1), 4 Garrs, and 3 Tacs. Would have been 4 Tac, but I AB'd the last tac rock on the map to deny everyone

Game winning move was right there at 2:04:47 ... Thallium sends me to base to handle the con spam. 35 minutes of that ... it was a full time job!

It's a shame you guys didn't see much of what was happening on the other side of the map, especially earlier. My personal favorite moment was when Purple had their entire team sitting on an aleph in uneyed figbees, waiting for go-time, when an uneyed Blue heavy bomber suddenly popped through the aleph and got massacred by gats

Also amusing was the accusation that we were collaborating with blue, shortly after blue had just reduced us to three sectors.

The nap I took was excellent, unfortunately it lasted so long I missed P32 and wasn't able to set up a server to test PCore009.
Thanks Z for agreeing to do this multisquad thing with us so I could catch up on some sleep!
And also, Dammit P032, why didn't you wake me up from my nap

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.
