There is a small chance you caught him at 4 in the morning his time after drinking and maybe he said some stuff that wasn't 100% nice. But in general my experience with Djole is that he is nice and helpful to new people.
I say give him, and Alleg, another shot.
Why don't more people play this game?

every once in awhile we get someone with a thinner skin than most who stops in and takes the time to explain why they are leaving(s)

MrChaos... oh wait
I don't play online other than this game because of the present era's unlimited hordes of $#@!tards, with massive epeens, all with a scorching case of tourettes. Unfortunately I am pretty sure Ive been the final straw a time or two for another player's decision to quit.. It happens. I'm not *meh* about it, I do try to not get sand in my naughty bits (1026) but after a decade *sigh* such is life.
Owl's POV is his own and Im not sure it will be changed by saying (at least in his mind) "but the other guys show up by the Baker's dozen, don't use lube, and never ever leave a pack of smokes on your cot after a shower date."
*shrug* maybe I've been reading to many Archie comics recently but hopefully you get the point

Okay, reading it over again in a calmer mood, it's obvious my response was over the top, out of proportion to the offense. I posted expecting to be attacked, so snapped at the first person to suggest verbal attacks were perfectly normal and nothing to be upset about. Right response, but wrong target. Djole, I apologize for snapping at you. You didn't deserve that.
But I'm not wrong.
The reason verbal attacks are more prevalent in some more popular games with large playerbases, is precisely because those games have large playerbases. Somebody mouths off in WoT, what do I care? It's just some random troll I'll likely never encounter again.
Somebody mouths off in Allegiance, though... that $#@!er is going to be there for the rest of the night, still mouthing off. He'll be there tomorrow. He'll be there next week. He is going to be there for the forseeable future, still mouthing off. In high school, I got into fights with guys like that. In adult life, at various jobs, I've taken guys aside to a quiet corner and calmly explained exactly how much they're pissing me off and how very good it would be for everybody concerned if they would simply shut their mouth or just tone it down when I'm around. Done that a few times, with a 100% success rate so far. At my little slice of the internet, I can and do block people for not being civil.
But in Allegiance? This behavior is the norm. I'm the one who's out of line for expecting anything different.
Good job in getting rid of the worst. Really!
I'm done. Just thought you might like to know why people leave. That's what the thread's about.

White owl my post was not intended directly for you (and wasn't even meant to offend anyone) but I've seen too many people complain that allegiance community is "toxic" and in my experience the number of good people far exceeds the number of bad ones (well I didn't ever meet any truly bad ones) so labeling the community as such for the 2132nd time isn't a very pleasant thing to read...
I'm sorry for putting it out in such blunt and general (general as in open for interpretation) manner (my boss says I should be only allowed to talk with the machines
). Its even worse that English is not my 1st language so what I write might not be always interpreted as I intended it to be (I'll have to hire phoenix as my lawyer from now on)
If you do read something that bothers you please post chat logs (located in your "ALLEGIANCE_ROOT\Production\log", logging turned on by default), we do have enforcement.
I do see your point about bigger games... imo the greatest benefit there is that you can find another game before that one (the game containing whoever offended you) has ended... But we need more players to fix that, no other way around it.
Hope to see you in game!
P.S. Thanks for the support guys

Yes playing with people you do not like every time you play can wear one down and one of the reasons people leave. It is the "we need more people" issue of course and you explaining this is... wait let me do this different. We are aware of the issues that cause player leak and it appears from Dome's response on the subject (somewhere) poor behavior will get an extra hard look and a thump. However this is also fraught with danger as people's opinions on what is acceptable enforcement vary wildly. I applaud Dome's can do attitude and hope this works out for us. Alrighty now for the pay off pitch. While I do, in fact, appreciate the apology, and expansion on your thoughts I think it is best if you take some time to reflect on fitting in or moving along before posting again.

Perhaps I can steer this conversation back to some of the OTHER reasons again.
I had a network party (yes, I know, so 1995) with about 12 friends. I setup a network share, stuck the allegiance installer there. Got everyone on a lan game, and guess what, it was too complicated for a DM! Sure they launched an interceptor or two and fought for a few minutes, but it didn't last. They were dropped into the game too quickly.
When you join an online game it's like learning to swim, except instead of starting in the kiddie pool with the doggie paddle, it's like being dropped in shark infested waters from a helicopter and if you don't swim fast enough, then you will go off niagra falls. Ok, a little dramatic(and I haven't seen sharks at niagra falls before, although it would be interesting seeing them swim off the falls....).
Most games out there have a dumbed down way to learn. You start with only a few controls, then increase. To keep players interested, the training is integrated with the games story line so you HAVE to play it to know the story.
Allegiance has the training, but if I remember right it is crazy to modify?
EDIT:
Just thinking, the OCD players that are here now probably are still here and act the way they do because you need OCD or be really stubborn to learn all the ins and outs.
