EDIT: I'd downloaded those 32 CDs of stuff... I just haven't looked at them yet.
Only Belts and Bios have 512x512. IC, Giga, and Rix have 512x256. I don't know if you'd want to leave them as is or oversample to make them "square". There's a lot of miscellaneous sizes for smaller things, but are still higher res than the default (128x128 vs 64x64), so you have to be careful you don't miss anything.

I'm not sure if there is high-res asteroids in the CD's. The original softimage files are there, and you can download a free version of softimage xsi (XSI Mod Tool, I think) that is able to mostly import the original files. In theory we could then bake whatever texture size we wanted, but I never got all the way through it.

I think Quia went through and packaged everything she could find on the CD's. I think I remembered an issue with one or two of the files, but it's been several years, so I could be wrong.

what do you think about making "thin gauges" the default: http://www.mesialonline.com/Allegiance/gauge/thingauge11.zip

More importantly, can we put links to mumble in the installer?

Cant wait to see all the hi-res stuff. Thanks pkk (and all those that made the hi-res stuffs)!

(I can't find a working link for that icon pack. I'll ask around. )

I was thinking you were planning the installer for R8. This is going to be a new installer for R7?

2014 and I still have to bug people to try the hi res alephs.

I think most of the links should work. GT stuff was never finished.

Edit: I was never able to make PNG + TXT work, so they are big ass BMPs instead.

Hi, my two pence:
Disclaimer: I have never made an installer before, therefore have no idea of the effort involved.
How hard is it to make a installer without any pre packed files. So we will have a small installer with just options in them, and then the installer will download files off the server depending on which install options were selected. The benefit of this would be that once a month/week we can refresh our files so any new file/modified file will be installed automatically saving the long update process post-installation plus there will no longer a need to update the installer with new files. Also would this help with bandwidth usage as someone installing the game would't use the server twice, once for downloading the installer and second time for the file update?

Interested to see what you egg-heads make of this :)

That is my understanding. A couple of people are doing some marketing, and we want an installer that includes the latest core file and artwork (at least), just so newcomers don't have to download then through ACSS one by one. Hi res textures etc are a bonus.

R8 probably won't be ready in time for the marketing push.

Would be nice if somebody got some time to test this installer:
https://ssl.webpack.de/www.german-borg. ... up_301.exe

Note: It contains all latest files on AU (excluding beta), no high res.

It installed 303 new files from AU after installation so maybe there are some you forgot to include.

PS. And after restart it wants to update 580 more.....
