Failed to connect to the lobby

Even that didn't work, but even if it did, it still wouldn't do much good, seeing how I'm not the only one using the internet most of the time.
I guess it at least rules out some variables, but I'm still stuck.

Are you on a normal home internet line? If so, who is your provider?

It is a normal home line. My ISP is UPC.

Right, solved.
Turns out I'm sort of an idiot. A previous installment of another 3rd party firewall still had quite a bit of it all over the place: in the registry, in the hidden device drivers. Once I got rid of everything and did a clean reinstall of the game, it worked.
It's a bit ridiculous how much effort it takes to properly get rid of a program sometimes.
