I realize the sentimental value of having the same tag forever and the relationships built between players in the same squad, but those relationships don't have to be dissolved in order to consolidate.

The biggest issue preventing consolidation that I see concerns players' personal preference of which people they want to fly with. We can't force people to play with people they don't want to play with because that would probably make them more likely to quit the game than if we just let squads languish as they are currently.

So yeah I'm probably just spinning my wheels here and ultimately there may be no viable way to save this game in terms of competitive squad game play. Maybe I should just be happy with the mixed games we have on Sundays.

P.S. While I support the release of ACSS, I am not convinced at all that it will act to improve the player base, but I could be wrong.

If the players in the inactive squads wanted to play squad games, they'd naturally either create their own squad or migrate to a different one. Their inactivity just suggests that they don't or wouldn't care enough to join someone they're forced to play for.

Yeah forget it. The gap between good players and bad players is too wide anyways. There are too many annoying people left as well. *raises hand* I wouldn't want to play with a bunch of random idiots that consistently suck ass or cba to play anymore.

You're quite right, ACSS by itself will not add to the game play, nor is it a reason to play the game at all. It will have two prime benefits for new players:

1. Eliminate incompatibility issues with Xenocode that block many new players from even trying the game.
2. Eliminate performance issues in the Allegiance client due to the debug channel attachment that ASGS uses to insulate the game from debugger attachment. This causes amazing control and sound lag issues on some systems and is definitly a turn off.

ACSS also opens the door to (future) new autobalance options and enables faster code deployments for cores, mods and binaries.

More new players is just the spark. Active, fun games are needed to fan the flames. Your idea of merging squads is good. Perhaps looking at the active players, and merging squads along those lines so that people that like to play together on sundays can still maintain that relationship? My thought is if players X Y and Z all show up just to play with each other and that was the last thing holding them to the game, busting up that micro group would probably be the end of all three.

Some already did this (MEC :D ) so I agree with dome, but I really think that las sunday some @alllegs should have kicked those idoits that killed main at prime time.

20+ people just logged off while they hostaged main

Actually MEC is quite ok regarding activity. They soloed in the league, and think they had a squadgame last month.

Yeah, I don't really know what's going on in the OC. I guess they decided if no one would show up for sgs there was no point in scheduling them.
