Hello, I was drawn to allegience a few years ago and have looked at it often, but never bitten the bullet and downloaded. It looked good and all, but I was put off by the premise of 'Squad games' which to the uneduated eye seemed to dominate all gaming in Allegience. However, a few days ago I thought 'ah, hell to it' and downloaded it. I love it so far, decent community, amazing game and so much variety makes for a great game which I wish I had played years ago.

A little brief about me: I'm a 17-year old Corporal in the Air Training Corps, which is the Air Cadets. I enjoy all things military, most especially if that military force is the Royal Air Force. I'm one of the 1% of British people who like having a monarchy (although as a Politics student I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a monarchist) and well, that should be enough ice-breakers for now.

Random Question: When playing Gats, is there any one techpath which supplements the Palisade/Research route most effectively, or is it more of a contextual decision than a rule of thumb one?

ah cool welcome! sounds like you will have a great time around here.

on your question, i assume Gats = GT ? if thats the case Palisade/Research gives techs that enhances each of the more traditional techpaths. it's what makes GT distinctive.

with sup, pali/res gives u lrm ab (long range version of ab), lasers (energy weapon = no ammo usage), zeus missiles (seeker-like tracking with dumbfire damage)

with tac, you get the solar thingy that helps you regen energy fast at the expense of sig, gauss cannon, lt cloak (low energy consuming cloak)

with exp, you get Armored HTTs, mini dis, a booster for ints that lets u boost around for a long time before needing to reload (has lower acccel though)

with sy, u get a special carrier that even large ships (like bbrs) can rip to

ah found the wiki link that gives you a more complete listing of all the toys u get from research/palisade + techbase

Thanks. Additionally, is it advantageous to ram freindly cons in order to make them get to the asteroid faster? I know to avoid them when they are about to plant, but if you're escorting them, does ramming get them there faster?

Friendly cons (and friendly ships) that are on autopilot (cons always will be) will automatically try to dodge rams; You're only going to slow them down, if anything.

Read the SHAT outta that wiki. I spent hours on there at work when I first started this game.

Welcome to the game!

Absorb it but remember that theory based on informational text will always pale in comparison to practical experience
