Greetings,

Most of you probably don't remember me at all but I am interested in continuing my Alleg career after a 2-year hiatus. I reinstalled the game, joined a game lobby, and found to my dismay that I was not flying under my old callsign. After investigating the issue further I found that my callsign was linked to other accounts during the time I was away and I have no clue as to how it happened. I would appreciate it if the accounts could be separated so that I can fly as myself again.

The following are all the callsigns I have ever flown under:
RHINO_Mk_II
RHINO_Mk_II@SF
Master_Chef
Terrain

ASGS lists the following callsigns as linked to my own:
kingdaniel61
Sneezy_437
Imago

I believe Imago was a former SF member, but I had no contact with him and certainly did not use his callsign on my computer. I don't recognize the other callsigns at all.

If a PM to TigerEye is the best way to get this issue resolved, please let me know. I didn't want to bother him unnecessarily.

Thanks for your assistance,
RHINO_Mk_II

No need to PM, posting here is fine, taking it up to the higher powers to fix it, stay tuned for further information.

Hey.

I've looked into your account and identified why it was erroneously linked to other players. It was a misdetection of a RAID array on your system that matched a RAID array used by other players.

I've fixed the error and rebuilt your hider list - you should now be unlinked.

Unfortunately though, the misdetection is a result of your system not reading your RAID information properly. This will prevent you from logging in until you can fix the problem.

Can you look into your system's BIOS and make sure S.M.A.R.T. is turned on?

You'll need to check a few places:SMART is enabled for each of the hard drives connected to your system. This is likely in the system BIOS. Your computer probably says "Press Del to enter Setup" or something similar when you first turn it on.SMART is enabled on your RAID array. This is in your RAID BIOS which MAY be the same set of menues as your system BIOS, but it could be a second set of menues. Look for a SECOND prompt after the "Press Del to enter Setup" that says something like "Press Ctrl+I to enter RAID BIOS" or something.Check any software installed by your Motherboard/RAID controller within Windows to see if there's a SMART switch/toggle buried somewhere in there. This is rare, but some manufacturers bury it within Windows and not in the BIOS(es).
Once you've solved your SMART issue you should not only be able to log in and play without problems, but your system will be able to alert you if it starts to detect symptoms of dying hard drives. It will help you replace your HDDs while you can still read the data off of them :)

The Helpline folk should be able to answer more specific questions.
If you've gone through everything and you STILL can't log in, there's something else I can offer, but let's try fixing your SMART first.

Welcome back,

Thanks for the help, I'll look through my BIOS settings and update this post when I have more info.

EDIT:

So far, no luck. I looked through both my system BIOS and RAID setup for any options to enable SMART and didn't find any.
I then went looking through tech support boards and the general consensus is that it's more or less impossible to enable SMART on a RAID drive, or more specifically that the RAID device does monitor the HDDs but does not pass the information through to the user unless there is a problem, and it's nearly impossible to force it to do so.
Finally, I tried installing a command line tool that allows you to manually monitor and control SMART settings, but it ran into the same problem, that is it couldn't read any information about the HDDs themselves as long as they were set up as a RAID array.

The last resort would be to disable RAID on my drives, but that would mean reformatting everything - something I'm not willing to do just to play Alleg :(

Sounds like you've done everything you could. We're not going to ask you to turn off RAID or reformat your drives. :P It's now up to TE to try his alternative offering.

TE is a busy guy, so he may not get to you right away, and he needs access to his magic wand. If you don't here back from him in a week, let me know and I'll light the TE signal.
