Elzam V. Branstein wrote:QUOTE (Elzam V. Branstein @ Jan 30 2012, 07:05 PM) No matter what comes out of this, I highly doubt people are going to accept SG resigns anyway. Resigning a squadgame is going to be frowned upon until it becomes the norm. But by then, squadgames will have become glorified PUGs (if they aren't already). So whatever man.
It's hardly even worth playing SGs, especially with the attitude some squads bring into them. They are good to play with friends and have fun, that's all.

It doesn't matter how it ends, as long as the participants have fun. If you feel you're not going to have any more fun, resign and say GG. Congratulate the other team on their victory . . . to be quite honest, as long as it's not an obviously silly, offensive resign, you shouldn't let a difference of opinion between two squads change your actions.

What?
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

I can see a few.

And also I'm arguing a case which no one is reading so I'm failing at that.

The fact is all people have said to "defend" the reason SGs MUST be played to the end are:

1) They fear everyone would just #resign at the drop of a hat
2) They want the satisfaction of "finishing the game" no matter the expense of the other team players
3) We've always done it that way.
4) It's more "gentleman like" to not #resign a match no matter what happens in every single situation.

Where the points I were trying to make before the trolls decided that point 1. was what I was trying to say was:

1) That there are times where it's better to call it a good game instead of ruining the end. These times are rare but they can happen and in these times we shouldn't frown upon them. This can lead to better player retention considering it'll limit even the longest games where this sorta thing can happen.
2) I just wanted to point out alleg is the _only_ game where this happens. I actually got major rager several times in other games because I wouldn't resign where it was "clear" that I had lost.
3) We've got player retention issues even in squad games. This was a suggestion which may've helped. Clearly everything is fine, move along though. *shrug*

This about sums up every squad game vs @SF.

they are 30 minute games that upon launch I just wait for them to end.

I can't decide if that means sysx should resign or sf though...

You are right we could fit in multiple games if you resigned sooner. I think we could beat you a good 40 times or so in a half hour if we just launch and you insta resign. It may be more challenging as well.

I have come around to your way of thinking after all.

True! But we have special pilots with special needs so you can't treat us that way! Nanny state after all, special people have rights too

And the point I'm trying to make is that you can already do this. There is nothing stopping you from resigning an SG, if you so wish.

You cannot expect to resign and have the other team happy about it, which is ultimately what you want. What they think and whether they think your team should have resigned is completely up to them, and making resigning acceptable in SGs is not going to change that.

p.s: Alleg is a unique game with a unique community. Trying to port concepts from other games may not always work :P

Given this thread was produced in Alleg's current era, I give it an A-

As usual Dorj is misunderstood by the less civilized of the game, Spidey's brain explodes, Brood fawns, and Drizzo remains silent (since he quit the game).

Thanks goes out to Dorj and Spidey for giving us all something to read and laugh over on a monday in winter.
