Allegiance has been working fine for one week or two, but I can't start the game any more.
I've access to the ASGS and... that's it. It crashes, telling me that I've to close the windows. When I click on "details", it says:

Well, I have no idea of what it means, except that allegiance.exe seems to be the fault module name. I tried the beta mode and I could access to the lobby. But in normal mode and safe mode, it didn't work.
Any idea?
p.s.
I have an ASUS Bamboo, Windows 7 64 bits.
Crash in normal mode (not in beta mode)

Use the BETA version since it works.French_Touch wrote:QUOTE (French_Touch @ Dec 14 2011, 05:11 PM) ...I tried the beta mode and I could access to the lobby. But in normal mode and safe mode, it didn't work.

Perhaps the new core (now being pushed through AU) is involved somehow.
Try running Allegiance.exe directly and see how far you get. You can't join our game servers, of course, but you might be able to at least run the program. That tells us something. Also try rebooting, then logging in through ASGS and let us know what happens.

A missing sound card or sound driver for your sound card can cause alleg to crash like that.
You might try to reinstall alleg "As Administrator".
My money's on the sound card/driver or a missing file in your artwork folder.
If you play on the beta server, you'll be as lonely as you'd be on the other servers....they're all empty now.

If it's a missing sound card, beta would crash, too.
If it's a missing artwork file, beta would crash, too.
Sounds more like a problem with Visual Studio 2008 runtimes.

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

- Ok, I tried to start the game by clicking on Allegiance.exe directly. Crash.
- I restarted Windows. Crash.
- I reinstalled the game. Crash.
- I also reinstalled Visual Studio 2008 redistributable. Crash.
The surprising thing is that the game still starts on beta mode !?!
For the sound driver, it works fine like it has always been.
Any idea? Weekend is approaching and I don't want to miss it!

R6 uses VS2010 runtimes. Have you tried renaming Microsoft.VC90.CRT folder?
