Does this mean the military will go AFK now?

Really?

When did they announce that? It'd be nice to stop wasting gigantic metric boatloads of cash by supplying the deployment over there.

Of course, it'd also be nice if pallets full of cash stopped disappearing in the presence of private military corporations like Xe Services too.

I really have a hard on for pc speak. That is just so... nice. Almost as good as day labourers being called a "trolley technician" at the local supermarket.

At least being called a dog of war has a ring to it. (Executive Outcomes promo video.)

As a man from a military family you do not mince words, I see.

Neither did or do I. Should illustrate the old saying "What's in a name" to a T though.

To my mind a blood diamond bought in Africa and sold in the US is still a blood diamond. By the same token I could call Hitler a "man with a vision". And some do. One man's Terrorist is another man's Freedom Fighter. And in more honest days the promo video I mentioned starts with the word: "My name is Gavin, and I am a mercenary."

Book recommendation:

Eeben Barlow
Executive Outcomes –Against All Odds
Galago (the publishers)
Alberton
2007

I think you would enjoy this one, in all seriousness. Though the conclusions you and I draw would be poles apart. But it is a big world.

Just to answer others, last I heard the american administration pushes for quick-ish withdrawal but the general in charge mentioned to CNN that he finds the pace too quick, or words to this effect. This statement was quoted on BBC world about 1 to 2 weeks back.

DRIZZO, post something!!

HAHA

Yeah, that's what most people know them by (they keep changing their names, so you can't refer to them by name) so that's the terminology I used. :P

By 2012, we still have a good 2-3 deployments left over there.

fighting in the desert must be pretty boring by now. Invading North Korea would be much more exciting.
