House of Lannesters/Lancasters fights House of York/Stark for the crown of England/Westeros south of the big icey/Hadrian's wall. I am only in book 3 now so I can only guess who the Tudors will be.
A lot of spoiler related things (even in season 1) are entirely at odds with this analysis.

Except that the main point is correct. It really is the War of the Roses, and Westros is fantacy Britain.

I wouldn't even say its close at all. Its the War of five kings, not two. Plus, many claimants to be aren't even fighting over the Iron Throne.

Sure, there might be some passing similarities. But any war where anyone fought over a throne of any kind would be just as like to have the same.

MW, Martin has explicitly referred to the War of the Roses as inspiration. The most powerful man in England at the time was a kingmaker, not one of the pretenders. It was much more complex than just two families struggling for diminance.

I think the roots of her hair were weird at times also. But the eyebrows were a twitch for me every time I saw them.

I may be Tim Allen.

You're old now and find stories about "youth with potential who challenge the elderly" disurbing.

This make you stroke your manopeen using the hand of "esotric encyclopedic knowledge". *sigh* Sorry Mrs Elderly Down Pillow Contributor. The empty feeling is sad tbs but at least he is still aware that, while a tad pathhetic, the grilling skills = sexual healing :psyched:

tl;dr

Your old, fat, and less attractive deal with it like Spidey has... after all he was Miss Wales 1991... and look at the poor bastard now

edit: If I didn't know better I'd guess there was some good-o-sense filter that kept one from angrying the Allegiance gods ;)

edit2: Sue me, I $#@!ed up the first post, YOU try stirring up Her Duckness by invoking The Eight Legged One <--- (Note: After the Mufatu Incident Spideylicious may in fact be an eight legged version but unable to reproduce.... the world awaits breathlessly)
