Terraria
Man, I had a heck of a day yesterday.
It all started with my first meteorite landing, waay over to the east. Had to grappling hook over the top of the dungeon to get to it. It took me a little while to get the hang of mining meteorite, what with the constant attacks from meteor heads and the burning rock, but eventually I got into a good rhythm and even had a little waystation built nearby with a bed so if I got killed again I'd respawn there instead of all the way back at my main settlement.
Then the Blood Moon rose. Fending off meteor heads while mining normally is rough enough, but during a blood moon it was just too much, so I fell back to my waystation and spend a long but enjoyable night slaughtering wave after wave of zombies and floating eyes. The sun finally began to rise as I stood panting and exhausted among chunks of my fallen foes, when another status message popped up. It seems the RNG had decided today would be a good day for a goblin invasion.
At first I was rather underwhelmed. Maybe a dozen or so goblins attacking me at my little waystation, then nothing much. So I went back to the excavation site and did some more work mining out the meteor. Somewhere along the line I $#@!ed up and got myself killed, which was when @#(! got real.
For some reason I respawned back at the default spawn point, instead of at the bed in the waystation or the one in my main settlement. Not really a problem as the settlement is only a screen or so to the right of the default spawn. Thing is, this is where the real goblin invasion decided to kick off.
They just kept coming and coming. Hundreds of the little $#@!ers attacking from every direction. The goblin shamen were the worst, teleporting about and firing bolts of magic that passed through walls and terrain to strike me. I died four or five times during the attack, but didn't let that deter me.
Eventually they stopped coming and I breathed a sigh of relief as I checked my inventory for loot. Nice pile of coins gathered from the fallen, a buttload of spike balls and a pair of rocket boots.
Freakin' rocket boots, man!
So I used what meteor metal I'd mined to whip up a quick meteor helmet and went back out to the dig site to finish the job. It all went rather smoothly from here, and I soon returned to my main base to smelt down the remaining meteor metal. Not enough for more equipment, but it could sit in my stash until I somehow got some more.
Two more meteors landed that day. Somehow the RNG had decided to make it up to me for following a blood moon with a goblin invasion. By the time I was through I was packing a full set of meteor armour, a phase blade and a space gun.
And to cap things off, en route to the second meteor I found a floating island and scored a red balloon from the chest.
Think I'll go looking for the underground jungle next.
