Most boots I see aren't for being a terrible player, its for being vocal about it and filling the chat with drivel. Most comms won't care if you do very little useful all game, as long as you aren't vocal about it.fuzzylunkin1 wrote:QUOTE (fuzzylunkin1 @ Mar 9 2011, 02:16 PM) Why should someone have to actively want to get better at something that doesn't have anything to do with their survival? Maybe they do it for fun and they care how good they are. Maybe they don't care if they get any worse or better as long as they have the same amount of fun.

Would have been justified, I would not have been butthurt. I was trying to rip out of a sticky situation and hit 'r' not realizing we had no home rip, and not paying attention enough to see that I was ripping to an SR on miner O. It was my bad for sure. And that was surely not the only mistake I made that day.HSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Mar 9 2011, 05:26 AM) Tbh I should have booted you in that game we were Rix but I'm just too much of a carebear, but srsly ripping a reg scout to an SR on miner O, that be pretty vooby.

I don’t know whether I should bother to take this thread seriously but whatever I got nothing better to do atm.
If being booted is a serious problem for you (i.e. you are being booted over and over and over) you seriously need to look at yourself as the one to blame. Generally is a combination of bad to horrible situational awareness and loud mouthness. The former takes a while to fix, but the latter you can take care of right away; do it.
I most certainly am not a great player (mediocre at best really) nor do I have years upon years of game experience, yet since I started playing was booted 4 or maybe 5 times. Some of them were justified (launching in a fig when we had ints, ripping to a SR scout I was totally not supposed to rip to …) some less so (taking too long to get home after being podded while scouting). Still, we are talking 4 or 5 times and Lord knows I make mistakes all the time!
Now, here’s the one thing that has always troubled me though: almost all of those boots happened quite early on in my Alleg career i.e. not too long after losing my #. As legit and possibly justified as they were, it was still booting a pretty new player simply for being new and not knowing better. I can tell you that between that, the harsh talk in game (not really directed at me but what did I know), and the difficulty of the game, I came very close to quitting on several occasions. Now maybe I didn’t have a thick enough skin and took those boots too seriously? Maybe. Is that uncommon in new players? I don’t think so.
