really masta you have to post in the helpline to berate me, wtf man....
contrary to mastas knowledge of the universe, sometimes my 3g is fine, and othertimes i play at a friends wifi, which blazes.
i can tell the difference between internet lag and gpu lag...
anyway much thx to all who tried to help me out last night.... i really appreciate it
i have rolled back my video driver, to a previous vista driver (is supposed to be more stable on my machine) .. with no luck.
just in case it was internet related, i set connection speed to 33k ... with no luck
i have basically all in game gfx options off (except trails, and particles are set to performance.... no luck
from a lot of the forum searching i did last night(other forums)
my gpu, just plain sucks
last night, say at a furball at a base, it would drop down to 1 fps, (watching alt-f while flying)...
i am about to try drivers from the 9xx site posted above and see if they will help (fingers crossed)
once again thanks for all the help!!!
ok, gfx problems cause lag
For those following the thread, his ping times on Planet was ~538ms when I checked last night. While this can certainly cause a player to hop about all over the place, it doesn't explain his screen freezing in the manner he described. As one who experiences the screen freezing (and has cable internet with pings of around 100 on Planet), I'm almost positive that ping is unrelated to this issue. If you're not getting game updates, you tend to see objects jumping all around the place when the updates do come in. (Your client, I believe, continues to project/interpret the location of objects based on known position and vector/speed. So when you get an authorative update from the server that object A is now at XYZ position, your client updates your screen to the new position, thus causing what appears to be a jump in position.) Freezing - when everything just sits still (or in my case can go black) - is a different phenomenon entirely. When my screen freezes like that I can still hear game sounds and voice chats - which I wouldn't if I wasn't getting server updates due to ping issues.

i understand my ping is also not great... but that is un-helpline related

ok so, i have tested my cpu in the land of highspeed and problems persist (for all you doubters).
i have now also been getting lots of crashes, sometimes a couple of times a game.. they seem to be graphically related at times??
as a note, i have exempted the entire alleg folder from my av, and i have even tried disabling it (avg)
ive also noticed the gfz problems begin when i enter the server selection screen (cursor gets laggy/gittery?)
any ideas still welcome
thx

While in game; hit ESC O A and turn your Antialiasing to 4xFSAA and turn your Vertical Sync to ON. If no improvement, try turning Vertical Sync to OFF.
When replacing your video drivers, uninstall them from Safe Mode in Windows. Reboot into normal mode and cancel any found new hardware popups and THEN install your new drivers.

While in the Allegiance Game, hit ESC O A , and you can see the (no AA) option selected..., toggle the (no AA) until it reads (4XFSAA). If there is no other option except (no AA), then your card simply doesn't support it. I wasn't sure if the option is disabled for GPUs that don't support it.
