Cadet II isn't that complicated, you wouldn't have any problems with it. Its mostly discussion anyways. The current session is in week 6 right now, so two weeks at least, maybe a bit longer. Just be patient, we'll keep you posted.assassinsat wrote:QUOTE (assassinsat @ Jan 28 2011, 10:56 AM) I did the quiz. Got only one wrong. But have to say that the whole thing could use a little more advanced questions. But maybe those are the standard for CDT I. So am i ready for CDT II? And when is the next course?
Still, the best way to learn how to play is to get on Mumble and fly with an experienced player.
Edit: Notjarvis beat me while I was posting. Drat.

I finished the test in 2 minutes... and got the question about the end game tech given....
Aside from commanding (every "noob" game I command, everyone wants to int whore) I think I have my facts down pat, but, I don't understand how they will help me, since I'm still scared, an get mowed down by packs of ints. Is learning how to run away when low on the energy curve something taught in cadet II? regardless, heavy int whores with 30 plus KB probably don't match too well with scouts who ran out of prox.

The test is really a "did you read the AFS wiki stuff" thing - its not too practical. Also, Cadet-II isn't that complicated or advanced, there's just a lot of material.Lutra wrote:QUOTE (Lutra @ Feb 2 2011, 12:04 AM) I finished the test in 2 minutes... and got the question about the end game tech given....

You won't learn much practical on the newbie server.
Flying a scout always results in ejects. Running away in one while you are being shot at is too late. You have to start running away or teleporting out when you see someone coming towards you. Command/F3 view is great for knowing when to run away in time.

Another alternative to running early is to stay hidden, as the enemy can't kill, what he doesn't see. Check out the article on signature and try to apply it in game.
In general knowing stuff in theory is great, but you need to be able to apply it in game. This will only come with practice. So getsomeflyingtime under your belt and proceed to cdt 2 asap.
