Haven't seen an occurance of bios pods yet in a night of beta. At least nothing like ripchording ability/40mps pods, possibly the graphics. idk.
Another bug we saw tonight was an exp con that refused to obey orders. It walked into an enemy sector on our command to bypass an op and plant in a Ur rock past it, but once it enetered the enemy aleph it refused to budge. We re-ordered it several times, had nans on it, but nothing. Eventually the other team brings out D, the con gets hit, refuses to rip home, dies.
Not sure why. One of the nans was really close. Game was a 4 teamer 1 rix and 3 giga. (This bug happened on the rix team)

Random factions issues are mostly known. It's supposed to be removed for R6 due to bugs, but that hasn't made its way to the test build yet. If you find anything that's not mentioned in #170 you could add a comment for when it gets added back in.

>_< Okay, I know this was on trac so I really should have known, but still, would it be possible to mention big things like this when Beta testing day comes about? Yesterday on Beta, everyone was going "random". We all either failed to check trac to see that the milestone on this is for R7 now, or forgot about this. I mean, trac may say that it's being delayed, but the feature was still in the Beta itself, and it seemed like an interesting one... The natural instinct was to try and test it.TurkeyXIII wrote:QUOTE (TurkeyXIII @ Nov 11 2010, 04:18 AM) Random factions issues are mostly known. Nope, I was wondering the same thing though. Because this depends on the "random" feature there really isn't a way to test it with specific factions unless you get lucky and those factions are randomly chosen for you. I guess it'd be necessary to keep launching the game over and over again until you luck out and get Bios on the start screen/F6, but some other faction once game actually starts. I dunno if I should try that if this feature is getting removed until a future date, though it might be interesting.LANS wrote:QUOTE (LANS @ Nov 11 2010, 12:55 AM) Girly: have you tested this with Bios pods while playing another faction? Can you still rip home or do your pods act as they should and its just a graphics problem?

Another issue that seems to have come up: Build bubbles sometimes fail to appear even when they should obviously be in sensor range. The base just instantly pops out when it's done building with no transition. Example: I am in a scout sitting a few hundred meters from an asteroid. An enemy op con dives into the asteroid (I didn't see what the "diving in" part actually looked like, it was on the far side of the rock. This also means I stopped eyeing the con for at least a portion of the time it was building, even though I was right next to the rock). Nothing happens. Nothing continues to happen for a while longer. Then SUDDENLY THE ROCK IS AN OUTPOST WHERE DID IT COME FROM ZOMG.
Observed this twice, once in a Giga vs Giga game and once in an IC vs TF. But to be honest I haven't noticed if it happens every time, or under some special conditions. Bears further testing I guess.

Well, this was known to Imago, i guess he didn't get to fix it and I wasn't on beta for quite a while now.girlyboy wrote:QUOTE (girlyboy @ Nov 11 2010, 05:11 PM) Another issue that seems to have come up: Build bubbles sometimes fail to appear even when they should obviously be in sensor range. You have to have the con eyed in the exact moment the buildsphere is created or you will never see it. Imagos reason that he couldnt quickly fix it was something along the lines "Buildspheres are only sent as an 'start buildsphere' message, so if you dont see it in the beginning you never see it."
And the whole point of the change was that we did not want to see uneyed cons planting...
Still ready to teach anyone who asks nicely whatever they want to know about playing alleg. Contrary to popular opinion I do not eat newbies. Voobs taste much better.
I'm not sure, but it can be a problem between ASGS and minidump handler.MoGas wrote:QUOTE (MoGas @ Oct 24 2010, 09:03 AM) TL;DR
The beta client crashes when you try to shut it down by pressing right upper corner X.
Like in the game lobby.
win7 64
Allegiance BETA client/server/lobby will automatically upload a minidumb to alleg.builtbygiants.net (which is now offline).

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.
win xp, itunes now crashes whenever i launch alleg after switching to beta.
Switched to normal and still crashes =\
to clarify, i can relaunch it after alleg starts, but if its running when i open alleg it crashes

Yes, the way random will have to be done in a released version is very different from how it was done now. I am sorry I didn't do more to notify the community it wasn't working, I had no idea it was still in as I made the change to take it out quite a while ago.
