Read the OP, he is saying there are 2 defects for every defect. That means that in his pretend scenario of 20 defects, you would multiply the number of real defects by 2 to find the number of listed defects.
10 wins, 10 losses. Irrelevant. What really matters is that their was a defect each round. That would mean 40 defects.
Unless you mean to say that the GAMES were counted twice, and in actuality there was only 5 games played, each was (won and lost) due to the defect, and in that instance it would be 10 defects with 5 games played. But that is an even faultier system.
In the hypothetical scenario
There were only 10 games of allegiance played. In each game you defected once. These Defects appear to be counted twice - so 20 go on the record.
You also get a win and a loss on your record for each game (as both count).
So
W = 10
L = 10
Defects = 20
I still have no idea where you get 40 from
