I tried to connect a couple of days ago, just to see what rank I had with the new changes.
I got this from ASGS:

Code: Select all

• Initializing
• Reading Settings
• Logging Option: SIMPLE
• Loading MRU Callsigns
• Loading Form Position
• Checking Installation
• Ready
• Checking for system updates
• Checking for existing processes
• Saving Settings
• Saving MRU Callsigns
• Checking connectivity
• Using Port: DirectPlay
• Connectivity failure. Check your internet connection.
• The request failed with HTTP status 403: Access Forbidden.
"Am I banned?" I thougt. So I went to check the banlist. Firefox gave me this message:

Code: Select all

Access to this server is forbidden from your client
In fact all of the asgs.alleg.net gives me the same message
IE dont give me any useful information but cant show any of the asgs stuff either.

The next day everything worked fine. I was able to log on and play a little. I was pleased to see my new (more accurate) rank and thought the other day was just some random error or whatever.

Today I got the same problem again. This time I started troulbeshooting.

Obviously I have a working internet connection and I cant find anything with my firewall that would mess with asgs and the connection.
The connecting port option in asgs dont seem to have anything to do with this either.
Nor does restarting the computer and modem resolve this and I get the same IP when renewing my connection.
But I honestly dont think the problem is client side this time.

Help me?

It is an error on Thalgor's side, if I remember correctly. Please post the public IP you are using when you receive the error. We will forward the problem to Thal.

Please post your public IP if e.g. 192.168.X.X ... I thin we only need the first two number to assure anonymity. More IP ranges have been brought on-line and Thalgor has a program to block invalid ones since they were used by some nefarious types to hack sites.

If you post your current IP we can make sure that Thalgor is letting the traffic through.

I talked to Thalgor, the system is no longer in place. It must be something on brutal's side.
I have already informed Brutal, he had sent me his public IP via pm.

On my side or in between. This seems to have resolved itself though, when my IP was changed.
My public IP is renewed by my ISP about twice a week and this makes more troubleshooting for the cause of the problem a bit hard. Thank you both for giving it some of your time.
