Hey there, I'm new to Allegiance.
I've always wanted to get myself immersed in a game that's set in space and relies heavily on teamwork - but with today's FPSs and RPGs a lot of the work you do is solo, even in multiplayer! That is why upon finding out about Allegiance I hurriedly downloaded it and read into it as much as I could... only to load it up to find 36 players on one normal server and 0 in any of the newbie servers.
The thing that surprised me the most was that there are often a lot of people on the forums - yet not many in-game.
I do, however, live in the UK and therefore I am in a different time zone to a lot of people. Is this the sole issue to the problem? Or are there not many Europeans that play? Or do not many people play the game period?
If there is a problem with the amount of people that play, how can I get some people to help train me (please note: I've already applied for AFS - I await a reply) if the game has only 36 players, none of which are in the newbie servers?
So all in all: Do many people play Allegiance? If so, why am I experiencing only 36 players online at one time?
Thanks, in advance, Kreios.
Player Activity?
The playerbase is decent but not huge; the issue is that the number of online players drops dramatically outside of primetime (6pm-9pm US time, later for Europeans). It varies a lot according to day and the possibility of special events, too; the highest-attendance period is probably Sunday before official squad game time (3pm EST).

There is a significant European population. Generally, 36 ppl can make a decent pick up game. I am relatively new but never used the newbie servers, they aren't really active as of late. It is good you signed up for AFS, just do a bit of reading and get on the main server and play. Learn as you go, there is a lot to it but don't get overwhelmed, the game is fun. Welcome.

According to the Leaderboard, 520 people have logged onto Allegiance in the past 7 days... Not too many, but still healthy.
The Newbie server isn't seeing much use these days, so don't worry too much about it and hop onto the main game; people should generally answer questions you may have (unless of course the team is too busy at that moment
). Look for people with an @Help tag too; they should be more than willing to help you.
You can also start a solo game to try out different technology. It's not much fun, but can help you get a feel for the game.
One good thing about non-peak hours is that, while there are fewer people online, that also means the pace of the game is slower, and people may be more willing to go out of their way to help newbies instead of focusing on a "serious" game.

A "voob" is a portmanteau of "veteran" and "noob"Kreios wrote:QUOTE (Kreios @ Apr 14 2010, 03:35 PM) Thanks for the lightning fast replies, guys! xD
And whilst I'm not too sure what a 'voob' is, you've all inspired me to keep on learning. But before I jump into a game, I think I'll watch a couple of video guides just to give me a little boost and appear a lot less irritating.
Thanks, again.

Hi Kreios!
This game sounds just right for you - hope you'll learn & enjoy the game
There are plenty of us brits playing. Best time to play is 7pm - midnight during the week, with a wider timespan during the weekend. 7-midnight is good as lots of Europeans are home in the evening to play games, and as it gets late as Europeans go to bed, the Americans start to log on and make up the numbers
36 is quite a good number to have online actually. It would be great if we had hundreds online (who knew what they were doing) and lots of games going, but in a sense, our small-ness keeps us close-knit (for better or worse) and more of a community. Of course, pretty much everyone would rather we were in our thousands rather than hundreds and there are always efforts ongoing with that aim in mind.
If you haven't read it already, I would point you towards the top 10 things you should know.
Welcome again and have fun!

You should log in right now and play! Forget the newbie server - the best way to learn is by mingling with the regular scum and dregs of the galaxy who play!
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
