AAAAaaaaaaa....... Just daydreaming there. Wouldn't it be cool to have a server on every continent?

Would kind of suck if we divided the player base into 4 or 5.

LordDelacroix wrote:QUOTE (LordDelacroix @ Feb 26 2010, 03:30 PM) I have dual OC-48's but ok, if you say that's not enough ... What the HELL is TE speeds? 38 years of computing and I've never heard of that one :(
QUOTE OC-48 is a network line with transmission speeds of up to 2488.32 Mbit/s (payload: 2405.376 Mbit/s; overhead: 82.944 Mbit/s).

With usually cheap interface prices and being faster than OC-3, OC-12 connections, and even surpassing gigabit Ethernet, OC-48 connections are used as the backbones of many regional ISPs. Interconnections between large ISPs for purposes of peering or transit are quite common. As of 2005, the only connections in widespread use that surpass OC-48 speeds are OC-192 and 10 gigabit Ethernet.

OC-48 is also used as transmission speed for tributaries from OC-192 nodes in order to optimize card slot utilization where lower speed deployments are used. Dropping at OC-12, OC-3 or STS-1 speeds are more commonly found on OC-48 terminals, where use of these cards on an OC-192 would not allow for full use of the available bandwidth.[/quote]

So you have dual regional ISP backbones routed through your home... impressive if thats the case its not just the "high end" cable package then by all means get with TE

Stability is really valued for Alleg. A reliable server and internet backbone is more important than 1 ms faster ping time :) But, as any admin can confirm, it takes more time than you can imagine to manage the server, especially when there are problems.

Also be prepared for flaming posts and pm's if your server is not up-to-standard according to some voobs, and a deafening silence if your Alleg server runs perfect.

But TE is the person to contact if you offer a server (but now I'm kicking in open doors).
