can we legally use the term "open source"
Since that tells people "It's free", "It's official, not a trojan", "It's not partially free", the same way "Free download" or "free full version" do.
Also, can we stick "Microsoft" somewhere on there, since that says "It was made by a proper company, not a load of open source jocks who have an arm long list of 'known issues'"
People who question the juxtaposition of "Microsoft" and "open source" can be directed to the community history (we don't want the term 'abandon ware' on the front page)
Epic New Front Page! UPDATED 12/21 (**NOW PRETTY**)
But we DO have a arm long list of 'known issues'...madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Dec 14 2009, 05:35 PM) can we legally use the term "open source"

I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.

Remember, what I say is IMO always. If I say that something sucks, it actually means "I think it sucks" OK?

Except the big about dorjan being jelly, that's just spidey's ego.

I am still on the fence Bacon & friends.
I have seen two visual examples I think that look ok/borderline good. There are many good tips and pointers here but I am not sure I have seen everything. Please aggregate the examples for us morons to pick and choose at our leisure.
Keep it up!

Shared Source is not "Open Source".madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Dec 14 2009, 06:35 PM) can we legally use the term "open source"

The Escapist (Justin Emerson) @ Dec 21 2010, 02:33 PM:
The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.
I would like to see something more about the team-based awesomeness nature of the game. It was this that attracted me to the game more than the promise of blowing stuff up and dogfighting.
Perhaps a link to the old "Best game no-one played" award...?
Despite this, I still prefer BaconPage to the existing one, but not by a huge amount.

No, we are following the lead of health services and waiting lists - we have an arm long list of issues waiting to be added to the list of known issues which is currently blank.Dorjan wrote:QUOTE (Dorjan @ Dec 14 2009, 05:39 PM) But we DO have a arm long list of 'known issues'...
I missed the '?' on the end of the sentence, but I guess people will figure out that shared source is similarpkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Dec 14 2009, 06:12 PM) Shared Source is not "Open Source".![]()

You know, I could attempt to knock together a java applet to do the kind of things flash does, only I would be writing all the code to animate things and detect if buttons have been clicked too...fuzzylunkin1 wrote:QUOTE (fuzzylunkin1 @ Dec 14 2009, 07:46 PM) We should use a mix of Flash, Silverlight, and Java!

madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Dec 14 2009, 04:29 AM) Is anyone here good with adobe flash?
Absolutely NO FLASH. Anyone who suggests flash for webpages is either form-over-function obsessed or has never tried to maintain a flash site for over a year. Usually the fricking former.
Bacon -- I LOVE IT. It's not only an EXCELLENT IDEA, It's shaping up really nicely so far.
