PK already has 4 people in OC. Could it possibly be that, gasp, they don't actually mind the pairing that much?

Well - 3 of the top 4 tourney teams are on one side.
I'd have put RT on PK's side personally.
I think the problem is XT's performance has been variable for the past year - they also have a lack of information on squads like GB, DSM, and to an extent BS and how they will perform.
The other problem is SysX's dominance. Since there is clear water between them and the teams below them creating a balanced game when they are on one side is difficult.

Throw in the fact we're not pairing SysX and DSM, XT and DSM together...
Throw in the predictions for each squad's turnout that also need to be balanced...
Throw in the problem of giving a tier A comm to each group...

Okay -- honestly, since none of the 720 team combinations we could've tried would've appealed to everybody it was decided to team IB and MW together, sit back and enjoy the fireworks!!

Shame is the plan will probably be foiled, as IB goes through 5 different squads by the time the game comes around

Well if it is 5 then there's no problem.
IB will switch to SysX, then to PK, then to SF for teh epic lulz, then to SysX, then again to PK.
