could someone move this thread to misc dev where Omicron hive, Archangel and Biolumen faction threads are; itll require less digging to find, and might be noticed by more people, cos i prefer the look of this faction to Omicron hive, Archangel and Biolumen :iluv:

EDIT:
Could you do another to-do list to show where your at please?

This looks awesome. But I guess it got abandoned? Or was it just moved? Either way cool ideas and great models. Especially fond of the mushroom one.

This project looked very close to completion, is it dead now? Any chance of revival? Just currious. And btw, what are the maximum number of factions we can put into one core? 10?

There isn't a hard limit on actual factions, rather we're limited by the amount of unique tech available in the core. Putting in a faction like GT (which has a lot of GT-specific tech such as PT bombers, rockets, gauss guns, AP HTTs, etc.) takes up a lot more space than a more "vanilla" faction such as IC. Getting more specific, these are the definitions ("defs") in the core file. You can read a bit more on those here (link).

I believe there is also a limit on items (ships, parts, stations, etc.) as well, but this limit is much harder to exceed compared to defs and is generally not considered an issue.

How much space is available for use in a core depends on the core in question. CC_09 had around 120 available defs when I last took a count.

There's also the issue of comparative balance - 3 factions will be easier to balance than 4 and so on. The more factions you have, the more likely it is that something will be wrong in any given core update.
