Welcome to AFS! Now that you've got your controls down, you know which way is "up", and how to launch out of base it's our job to teach you what to do once you've left base.
First, like any program, we have a few guidelines that you should follow:

Here are a few simple suggestions that can help you with getting along with the community.
Try not to play on the newbie server. The newbie server is a place to learn what controls you want, something you really should already know. Also keep in mind that any server with the name "Newbie" in it is considered a "newbie" server, and if your rank is above a 5 you will be automatically banned. This is to avoid certain problems that have arisen in the past with experienced players "beating up" on newer players.

Playing on the newbie server once you figured out the game controls is not a good idea, because you will learn poor game practices. If you feel you would like to play there to have some random fun, by all means do so - but do not expect tactics and techniques you learn there to have success in the more experienced games.

Please do not command. We understand that there are times when you have to command, but if you do so please do not wear your @AFS tag. Commanding requires a huge amount of game knowledge and the ability to handle a team of pilots. Commanding is one of the most important functions in a game of allegiance, and it's very important that only experienced players attempt to command.

If the game is busy and you have a question try pminga @Help or one of the vets you can see posting in this forum, rather than speaking to the whole team otherwise your question is likely to go unnoticed.

Finally, but not least important behave nicely and respect the rules that apply to the whole of the Allegiance community. Listen to people with @alleg or @zone tags, or with + tokens in front of their names: they are there to help the community by removing misbehaving, or cheating members, to organise the games.

Other helpful tips:
Try new things! Your instructors will show you what are considered the best ways to probe, but when it comes right down to it, try your own tricks for probing, getting in, or getting out. Do you prefer to sidethrust next to a bbr while nanning? Have your radar completely off when defending miners? These are things only you can know.
You are welcome to discuss what we post. In fact, discussion is what drives this program. However, spamming the forums, personal attacks in-game and in the forums etc. will get you the boot.
