It would make for more challenging games, since you wouldn't be able to choose a faction in reaction to your opponent choosing theirs, just to pick one you think is good against what they've chosen. It would be equally surprising for both. It might even help balance the factions better.

The comm still chooses their faction as usual, but if they check the hide the faction box then their faction doesn't get displayed before launch (Team background could show a big ? or something). Faction choice is hidden for both teams so only the comm knows what faction their team is.
Essentially it stops people thinking if they go X I go Y (well, they can take guesses at what X will be)
