Targeting and everything still works, you just can't see where you are shooting
I have killed some campers while in launch animation before and if you target an enemy in f3 before you launch then they get targeted on launch so you can fire missiles at them as well
Instead of having that stupid ass cutscene (That lets you control the ship anyways if you got a joystick) Why not have your view obstructed with the booster jitter for a few moments?
Only good thing about the cutscene is you know if you just took off in the wrong vehicle.
Instead of having that cutscene on launch, maybe they should have it on being podded? Somtimes I don't even realize I've just been podded when theres so much crap going on at once, end up dogfighting with it LOL

Also, most ship functions ( targeting etc. ) seem not work while launching.
It's an unfair advantage and annoying as hell.
I'd like to see it removed, it doesn't make sense to me.
So camp the enemy base before they camp yours.
It's only an unfair advantage because you let the enemy use it and don't use it yourself.
Which is the case with almost anything.
Save the effort you spend on complaining about how stuff is unfair, and use whatever you think is unfair, to win.

There are two types of Allegiance Players - Those who log in to play with me, and those who log in to complain about me. With me gone, both types lose interest. I am Allegiance.
I am always amazed by the ignorant responses that some give when someone else brings up a legitimate topic.
So for those jerks
FLAME ON: Listen dorks, "just don't get your base camped" is about as relevant a response as me telling you ,"just don't be an idiot" -
the point is bases will be camped just as surely as you will be an idiot. The launch animation being annoying has nothing to do with bases being camped. It is annoying EVERY TIME I have to sit through it. Correction, it was cool the first two times I sat through it and was annoying as HELL every time since. As a guy who gets podded as much as I do, I think that animation has cost me a good chunk of my youth. So the absolute truth and correct answer is as follows:
Animation = Stupid
Bases = Will be camped
You = Idiot
Amen.

You forgot to turn your flame off.
The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.
// this controls how long the launch animation lasts
m_timeOverrideStop = now + (bOverridePosition ? 5.0f : 3.0f);
Don't ask me when bOverridePosition is true or false, I don't remember or never knew, cannot remember which
Whether you like the animation or not is not really the issue, game play is. Base defense, and in particular HTT and SB base defense is the issue. The launch animation has been part of the game for so long that cores have been balanced based on it being a fact of game play. Remove the launch animation (or even shorten it) and you need to re balance the game.
After MUCH DRAMA (and no consensus) it was decided to leave it as is.
