That's like every game I play these days, it's far less annoying when you have the entire team muted!

I don't really remember much from my newb days, it was a long time ago. I do remember having a strong love for turrets always wanting to outgun lee mazili and raindog. I think because I did spend most of my time in a turret I didn't figure out what sidethrusters were till 3 months in, considering I remember getting 40+kbs (outside of the turret) early on, either everyone sucked or I just didn't need to sidethrust.

I also remember learning how to command, I did a dm once and I thought that garrisons gave you increased paydays so I spammed a good 10 garrs through the course of the dm.

Well, I read literally the entire academy before playing, so there isn't much there (I probably just don't remember it :P ), however, I did do a few things during my early games a com:

Sent a carrier to the enemy sup and told our bbr to rip in, while wondering why the enemy was stupid enough to let it live. (they were bombing our home at the time)
Played as Giga vs Rix, misclicked and bough regular booster rather than lt and then complained that my team let our miners and cons die.
During my CDT days, I rammed a proxer into an aleph during a two sided bomber camp in a BS vs GB game.

This wasnt a newb problem so much as a lack fo sleep problem. I tried to bomb the enemy base, in a scout, shooting mrm seekers at it. I died gloriously when I rammed the base.

*First of all, I played my first game thinking you were all bots....lol...didn't even see the chat and nobody had said a word in the lobby.

*Cussed spidey relentlessly for my first boot!

*Nanned the front of the bbr and ate friendly ab's. (whoever the vet was that told me to remind them to tell me something after that game....thnx!)

hmm.. it's been a while since any $#@!-ups I didn't intend to do...

- Thought enh figs were higher tech than ints (forgetting lt.ints and thinking fighters = ints tech path wise)
- Used a joystick :P
I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.

Got accused of lag hacking.Commanded my team on the newbie server to galv the enemy supremacy.Turreted a bbr, suddenly my turret started moving slowly, suddenly I had missile lock on my target, realised I was the pilot, paniced, and hit ripcord.Gave a bbr a perfect, max speed ram and then stayed very quiet while he screamed "WHICH $#@!ING NOOB RAMMED ME THROUGH THE $#@!ING ALEPH WHEN I SAID TO GO SLOW YOU $#@!ING *#$@S ETC ETC"

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

Finding the "stop donating" button right away in my very first game.

Using Quickfires.

Accidentally ripping to an assault ship 20 seconds before the call was supposed to go out because it was the closest rip to the sector I wanted to be in.
