Cannot access old Boards anymore

Hiya all,

For some reason I cannot access the old boards anymore.
Before the change the old boards worked flawless :-)
Short after the change the old boards still performed flawless :-)
Since some days (5-6?) the old boards suddenly stopped working for me.
I was especially puzzled as I had access to them before. So I had a confirmed "working configuration"

In order to trace the error I used Firefox 1.5 and purged all Cookies and Cache restarted Firefox, and logged into my account in the new Forums. Then I navigated to a thread with a linkback to the old Forums. Unfortunately this did not work. I did not see the linked thread but rather an empty box where the thread should be.

Then I noted though that I was not logged in in the old Forums. Yet any attempt to Login was met with Login incorrect. (no I did not forget my password, after all its the same on both forums ;-)

Thats where I resigned to access the old threads. Yet as there is some important content there which people refer to all the time it would be great if someone who mayhap experienced the same problem could help me.

We restored an earlier backup that had all the old content that everyone was mad that we had pruned.

Your old forum account was probably not in place at the time of that backup, hence you no longer have an account on the old forums.

However, you don't NEED an account, since all the old public boards are marked world-readable.

Though I might be even more puzzled than before. Because if the public boards are now world-readable (and they certainly will be if you say so) then I should have had no problem at all when I click a linkback link.
Well lets try this purge thing again, mayhap I should not have tried to logon.

I repeated the purge and restart procedure with FFox and went directly to the old forums.
As hoped and timidly expected the Forums are now accessible. Yeehaw! (albeit very slowly... :-)
The search function seems to work as well.

Though when trying to access one of the linkback links used in the new forums the following happens:

So I guess I could change the topics name to "Linkback to old Forums does not work for members which registered after the backup which was restored"

The permissions on that forum (Misc. Dev) were set incorrectly.

I've fixed them so your link should work. I'll also review the rest of the board permissions.

Yay! It worked :-) Consider yourself kissed by my fluffy little avatar. She (her name is Bluemchen) would hug you instead... but its far easier with arms than five blue plush petals.

Hmm then on second thought, I guess you would rather prefer be kissed by your own avatar :-)

There is still some minor issue, the cookies which the new forum sets somehow interfere with the old forums.
That means I can only access the old board index or above link if I access it from a browser whose Cookies have been purged (or I never logged on to the new forums). Well I can circumvent this issue by disabling/enabling Cookies-Setting priviledges. It does not bother me, just thought I let you know.
