The ban would be on the unlinked hider and then removed once the nicks were linked. Whilst in theory BV can ban people for as long as he likes there is a list of offences that everyone has signed up to and only people breaking these rules receive bans. BV does not abuse his powers in any way.

Let me rephrase the question then

Has the chat log with this phrase....

12/30/08 15:30:27: +BlackViper@Zone (Ratchet(0)): Hi, you have one minute to tell me your vet nick or suffer one year ban

been faked or altered?

I guess we can decide for ourselves if its abusive by BlackViper I just want to know if this is the kind of thing I would have to suffer through in order to play the game?

Long as you obey the rules, which are fairly leninent in some respects, you'll be fine.

You will only have to "suffer" if you make a point to test the limits of the rules. If that is your goal in hooking up your joystick, why even bother?

Otherwise, you will find that many have found a way to survive the "wrath of BV" over the years without losing their creative personalities.

Make sure to have a lawyer on hand so you can have him help remember them all for you.

I know I'm new around here but I've seen all these problems in another game that I recently crossed over from because well it died. It all started when the Beginner ,intermediate, advanced and regular servers merged into one but there was still a training server. The problem was that when people in training had ten hours spent there they had to go to the merged server where they were quickly owned and never heard from again. Alot of people said this was bad for the game on the forums but to no avail it happened anyway (deja-vu). When it did have 4 different servers( Training ,Beginner,Intermediate, Regular ) it thrived . I personally think its best for players of the same skill level to play against and learn from eachother. An idea would be to have novices only play with novice's and intermediates only play with intermediates until you reach veteran level then theres a server for vets and experts merged. They shouldnt even have a choice to join a int or vet server it would just bring disorder. Another good thing about this would be spotting players that are too good to be at a certain level and reporting them on the forums or by E-mail.This game takes way more time to learn than any other game I've ever played and its impossible to think that a novice can learn anything from being owned in 3 seconds by a vet or even an intermediate. Maybe he would learn to run and not fight,is that learning? If anything novices playing together would read more about the game and create their own community and help build the player base ,their tactics would be different but they would eventually learn. Its to get them to stick around long enough so this game keeps their interest ,honestly this game takes time for that to happen .

In this game you can actually be usefull to your team only following your commanders instructions, you cannot get owned alone, the team gets owned... So that's why BV and others @alleg are so worried to ensure that people with low ranks were not really vets, because they try to keep the games balanced. If a commander sees a (0) in your name, he will expect a newbie and he will be able to live with that. Perhaps if there are 2 (0)s then he will ask the other to join the other team, to keep it fair. In the game, (most) vets are more concerned killing other vets rather than noobs, because they cause much more damage, so it's unlikely that a (0) will get WTFPWNED. It's really not like playing 1 vs 1 starcraft online...
