Problems starting up the game

A fresh new windows installation, but lets see what is behind all of this.

Run Filemon 7.04.

Interestingly, the problem appears that Allegiance.exe is not found at all, which is very interesting, as I noticed that for whatever reason the critical update/ASGSUpdate.exe actually removes the thing (it's definitely there on a fresh install). So, maybe we've found the problem (NO ALLEGIANCE.EXE?)


... And I don't really want to fully reinstall everything just to play though

Edit, so just as a test, I extracted the original allegiance.exe from the setupfile and put in the correct place, however, when I try and log in with that I get "File Allegiance.exe has an invalid signiture. Would you like to attempt to repair the file?" And clicking yes, runs ASGSUpdate.exe, which of course re-downloads stuff and deletes the exe without replacing it....

Something deletes your game files on access.

So, sadly this is not the problem, thanks for trying though

- Once again install Allegiance to whatever drive you have windows on, If windows is on C then (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Allegiance) on default directory, no need to play with the registry for now.

- Make sure you completely uninstalled/Deleted your Antivirus/Firewall or any security programs that scans your files/folders.

- I suspect :
1- Your computer is infected with something, which spreads in your new created Allegiance directory, were there is a hidden program's processes/services are scanning and deleting/quarantining your Alleg folder components.

2- Something else someone might point out please, ImZzzz, FreeBeer, Anyone.........

Its not about the game, in a normal computer things go fine, in your case you have something wrong, so reinstalling windows, is a must for you, if your problem could not be solved else way.

'Allegiance did not launch in the time alloted' may also be caused by something as trivial as slow disk read speed. Make sure the drive isn't almost full, defragmentation could also help.
As the above doesn't seem likely in your case, it won't hurt to try it.

Let me see if I get this right.

You install the game, files are out of date. You do critical rebuild/repair and things go broke. FileMon logs show that files are deleted by ASGSUpdate without replacing.

My guess is that Comodo is preventing ASGSUpdate from downloading the new files. Make sure that it is setup so ASGSUpdate is allowed access to the Internet.

That's nearly right, except that the Update does in fact download a new ASGSClient (and will update ASGSUpdate if nessesary).

I'm sure this isnt the case because I've tried with it uninstalled, and also, as I said just above, it does actually download ASGS stuff from the net (but only that).

Also, here (280.22KB) is the filemon log of what happens when i just run the updater (after its already been run)

Anyway, I'm slowly preparing for a reformat, but it takes a long time to do (the reformatting more than the preparing + it's not urgent), although I'd much rather not need to do one at all....
