The Death Star esploded by a single shot in an reactor duct of some sort.

I think any space ship could get a winning shot down there. Even a giga scout with quickfires.

Actually, it was a proton torpedo, so I really doubt a quickfire or a gat would do the job. An xrm killer from 6k would do it really well though...

LOL. Yeah, I think the whole SW vs. ST debate is boring. zzzZZZZzzZZZ

The better question is with what factions could we pwn these worlds in a sub-light speed fight? I think we can take on BSG pretty easily. It's just a battleship without shields. Mini3 and prox that sucka. Stupid Vipers will always absorb the mines with boost. SW is definitely possible for us to pwn.

ST: Hell.. just empcan the shields down and shoot the engines. Don't forget we have nans on our side too. They're prob too fast for us tho. :(

Andon wrote:QUOTE (Andon @ Nov 13 2008, 09:24 PM) Yhuzan Vong vs Replicators - now THAT would be interesting. They're just about the antithesis of each other.

The Vong would probably be much better off against them as well, due to the fact that they use black holes for shields, they hurl large, flaming rocks for guns, and if they were boarded, they would do EVERYTHING to kill all of them off
Now would probably be a bad time to say that the replicators have used time dilation to escape from black holes (the asgard already tried to trap them in one).
madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Nov 13 2008, 10:49 PM) they tried things like this in SG.

the made a shield ch disrupt them, they just kept throwing them selves at it and analysing the data on how it was killing them and woorked out how to become immune to the shield.
They also made a gun which shoots some form of pulse which causes the bits to seperate, but the ones they made in the ark of truth had that weakness programmed out of them.
Unless you figured out a way of simultaneously killing all the replicators ever, the weapons would be pointless as mp mentions, the replicators adapt very quickly, and even exploit their own base code and can rewrite it to their own advantage.

Cadi, remember that the Asurans were a different type of human form replicator than the Milky Way human form replicators.

Also, I wasn't saying that the black holes would trap the replicators, but it would make it easy for the Vong to avoid the Replicators boarding them for a while. And, also, the time dilation field was a 'simple' reversal of the field that the asgard had set up. Another thing that might have an effect is the number of replicators - The relatively few that would be required for a projectile would be unlikely to be able to manufacture a time dilation field in time. The others would have to adapt what they were firing, or their strategies.

AND! The Replicators might ignore the Vong (AS the replicators ignore tech that's below theirs, and they probably don't view bio-tech as 'tech') until the Vong attack them, which could give the Vong an advantage for the first while.

When it comes to space opera, I'll take the Uplift Universe of David Brin any day.
