Home Of The Underdogs was a real great source for games... and pilots. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />Kap wrote:QUOTE (Kap @ Sep 21 2008, 06:58 PM) I just noticed that HOTU is down, I'm pretty sure it was one of the sites in which people found about Alleg.
Down to under 700 actives on the leaderboard :(

Wow... this is a surprisingly small community.

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.

So....yah, it's been a while for me. ;-)
Now's a good time to spam to grab bored WoW users: The second a release date for WotLK was announced, everyone became officially bored and "why bother" and left...figuring nothing mattered until the expansion came out because all gear, etc would just get replaced anyway. You can't get an instance group going to save your life. I suspect it will continue that way until the xpac is shipped. Everyone's off playing Warhammer Online and trying other stuff (OMG, I'm so buying Fallout 3!).
Anyway...I may try reinstalling this game again and seeing how badly I get my ass handed to me now.
Something to note though... I did try getting back into this game a year or so ago. Now I'm sure this is debatable, but I did consider myself one of the strongest in the game back in my time, both as a pilot and a commander. That said...when I did try playing again I seriously could barely get my ship to dock much less kill anything with it. A new joystick (oh, how I wish I could find a working Sidewinder), and trying to get all my billion buttons remapped something close to how I remember...
I guess what I'm saying is that I think I got a bit of a feeling of how a new player experiences this game. After having played it so much for so many years all the "basics" seemed so easy, why couldn't more people jump right in? But OMG....after trying to get myself back upto speed...a very experienced vet player...I can only imagine a totally new pilot would be incredibly lost for ages.
I have no idea how to fix it. Much of the details that make for a steep learning curve... are also the details that make Allegiance such a fantastic game.

QFT.sambasti wrote:QUOTE (sambasti @ Sep 25 2008, 06:26 PM) I survived the lerning curve by absorbing the online Cadet materials and not expecting to be good at dogfights. I guess everything depends on your expectations.
First time I joined I was overwhelmed. I quite for a month or two, absorbed cadet, came back nanning and probing instead of dogfighting. Game's a lot more fun now.
