Aleph Res ready, clear the area! *countdown* 3, 2, 1.
I'd also like to see a seperate commander vc list, typical orders commander only would issue... could include things like warnings to newbs about donating and much more in that area, things like 'I'm blind, for the love of god scout/probe.'
Also, more taunts, you can add a sub sub menu for those, people like taunts on both ends, just need more of them as they do get old.
Another auto for cons, "I can't build it. Somethin's in the way. "
Some really good one's from sc are here.
Also there are some really good one's from Austin powers, huzah's and taunts and my fav, "im the boss, need the info" for commanders.
So many.
Anyway, this is my favorite never got off my butt project, so I hope you succeed. And I REALLY hope that in addition to putting this all together (which will have different dialects of course), that we'll improve the current default vc listing with more and better one's (after community/senate approval).
If there's something I can do, please pm me.
Kudos

Chat pack update
Good one on the Aleph res, although I think the countdown would have to be cut, as alleg only seems to be able to play one voice sound effect at a time.
The commander's VC list is what I was going for with the 'Orders' submenu - although the only one that feels really commandery is the "... or I'll boot you."
Taunts - I'm not doing any new ones. I simply don't use them.
If you have some sound files that you want added then just send them along and I'll add them though. In the taunts menu currently only: g, u, 9 and 0 are unused. Although I don't think there is any reason buttons such as []\;' can't be bound. The list on-screen would get huge though.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
For the aleph res one you could just join 2 files together.
I was thinking of a taunt subsubmenu, perhaps "0" opens up that menu. I'll post some soon enough, I'll grab the useful one's from starcraft (surprisingly there are many) and some movies like Austin Powers...
then see what people think. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

n.b. I may not see a forum post replied to me or a pm sent to me for weeks and weeks...
Ogg files make the installer much smaller. During the installation process the ogg's are converted to wav's which Allegiance currently uses.juckto wrote:QUOTE (juckto @ Sep 19 2006, 01:00 AM) Oh yeah, I got a question. In the artwork directory every file seems to have both an .ogg and a .wav. Why is that?

Umm, I would advise against that, JG, as using voicebits from movies etc could get us in trouble in the longer run. Heck, I'm surprised that we havent caught flack for some of the ones we already have.
Oh, and we forgot one other naning related chat... NAN DOWN!
The chats are all recorded and ready, as far as I know. It's just a matter of finalizing.Raveen wrote:QUOTE (Raveen @ Sep 18 2006, 05:49 PM) I believe Sgt Baker was working on some new VCs as he has access to a proper recording studio. Quite what happened to that project I don't know though.
Damn shame Baker got owned by RL.

RT: The number of typical responses decreases exponentially as the number of joke options increases.

From another thread but this will make a chat pack update pretty difficult.Pook wrote:QUOTE (Pook @ Sep 27 2006, 09:20 AM) There's a key part of this conversation that's been missing until madp hinted at it:
Some of the upcoming changes require changes to MDL files. To push these updates, the new MDL files will be placed on AU and everyone will get them, overwriting any modifications.
(... here's the sucky part ...)
The next time the AU is updated, those MDL files will be pushed AGAIN. and AGAIN. and AGAIN. As long as these files are part of the update source, any time ANY update is published via AU those MDL files will again overwrite any modifications. This means reinstalling your mods after each and every AU push.
This is why you're being asked which features should be made "standard"... so that the AU source would contain these features.

Are these changes going to overwrite every mdl file?
Aem, I'm having trouble with the code. I'm trying to load up Alleg (but not ASGS since I'm banned) to try out the VC I've put in, but it keeps crashing.
I've tried putting in just one VC, and double checking against the instructions you gave me in this thread, but no luck.
Something that has confused me is this part:
3. Scroll down to
because a) I don't see anywhere where nameIgaveSoundId is used, and
I've been inserting my VC below papsmear's, and I don't see his anywhere in that soundList.
