Meh, scouts can pod SF easily with a single gat, and they have a nan.

Scout > INT at defending VS SF on miner D.
I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.

SFs can pod scouts too. Much quicker than you can them, esp. when they have the element of surprise working for them. Two hunts and a little util will do the trick.

If I'm soloing a miner in an SF, I much rather it be defended by a single scout than an int. Although I've never used the tactic that theTroy describes against ints. I imagine it takes a fair amount of maneuvering, as the tricky part is getting away from the miner to lose eye yet not so far away that you can't gain an second attack on it from a different angle. Usually I just go straight for the damn thing and pray for a voob int, or anotherwise I break off the attack.

Really? I've always found that INT pop pretty quick vs hunters and even if they have PP you can usually get them, scouts though, as long as their cm hold can be problematic... not so easy to run from (unless you're BIOs with a sig of 3 lol)

But TBH i've not ever solo defended vs SF and a mixture of both work best. Teamwork.

it ain't black & white... sometimes you can afford having more pulses, sometimes you HAVE to get more fuel and ammo (the further you are from base, especially in sectors that only have refs, the more fuel you have to take). It's better to learn to protect the miner using the least pps you can, especially when you are far from base.

while i agree that it is much simpler to just be there with pps, sometimes you can't be there efficiently if your loadout is made of pps.

If you gave a concrete situation, then you could say this or that is better, but generally speaking, it's like saying you should always carry a galv on your fighter

yeah, too many people read "always" as toally 100% not expections instead of "most of the time with a few exceptions"

If the enemy is tac, doesn't know where the miner is, and we have PPs and heavies, I'll usually take a heavy and sit with the miner. An SF will locate the miner and move in on it, but won't eye me until it's too late. Then I pod him.

If the enemy has really skilled miner hunters this is tougher.

What I prefer more than anything for SF miner D is camping an aleph with a scout. Unless we are rix, because I can't fly Rix properly, and I can't take on a skilled SF with a rix scout. However with other factions I load seekers and PPs and a rack of counters and try to keep them out. I hunt eye and look for hunters appearing and most piltots I can best. Not the real skilled ones, though, and for some reason Broodwich, who packs sniper and pods me completely without respect for the harsh reality that he is not good enough to do so.

Get me a dreg basic scout with seeker2 and either gat2 or pp. I'll show you some dead stealths.

Fuzz was, of course, correct given that the sf werent already in the sector.... if they leaked in then lights out.

A single int protecting a miner against multiple SFs is so getting hot missile loving it aint even funny.
Your just fooling yourselves that two SFs with even half ass pilots arent going to kill your miner against a single int.
Yes yes you've done it but your success rate against even half ass pilots has be about 2 in 10
