Just wanted to say that I have found Rhow to be one of the most n00b friendly comms I have flown for. Most n00bs want to help the team and will help if given direction, but too many just ignore them or tell them "Just probe everywhere" which doesn't really help in learning at all. As I've gotten a little more experienced I bug my comm's less, but I'm pretty sure I still drive them crazy asking them what they want me to do. Cadet helped a lot and I'm getting a much better feel for the game, but early on it was really nice when comms gave me nice clear simple commands like "HEY COBALT GO PROBE SLEIP".
Anyway, just wanted to raise a glass to Rhow, Grav, Sheffwill, and other comms (can't remember everyone off the top of my head) who have really been great at guiding n00bs along. We appreciate it! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I have read the site pages on Newbie and n00bs, but sometimes I find the usages on the posts abit confusing... heh, newbie eh? Anyway on the thread of accepting newbies... a thought ... newbiies learn how comms operate and play, therefore can make very strong future team members... or dangerous opponants..

It would be nice if more comms told specific players what they want.If your not sure what to do wait for the comm to say: "Someone go probe X" and do that.Someone means the whole team,so no one listens because they figure "someone else" will do it. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, And Nobody"
This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done

I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.

Except the big about dorjan being jelly, that's just spidey's ego.

Lyk Gui and the rest of you folks trying to prtotect the new folks.
Your rediercting the problem to the wrong person.. Your blaming the com and not the player base that stacks.
It are the Vet's that cause the Uneven games. The new folks get stood up because the VETS's (not the voobs) do not even themselfs out. The COM's job is to keep the teams balance.. That is why he/she has the accept "feature.
New folks should get to play your entirely right . Blame the stacking vets and direct your rant at them and not the com who is trying to keep the game even.
For those of you that are not aware, I pm 90 % newbies waiting to join my team and explain to them why I am not taking them. As a matter of fact .... I was playing a game the other day that started out even , then I got a little stack , then the stack swtiched and I was down, then I lost 2 Key player(folks who make things happen). There were a 0 and a 1 trying to join my team and I saw the rest of the folks in Noat were the usual stacking vets. Sure enough I accepted the newbies and as soon as it was even one of the vets joined the other team. That completely unbalanced the sides. Next time I went down a player... I stayed there... and would not accept the newbie... Tbe other team had no new players either. My concern was as soon as I accepted the next newbie the vet would join the other team. Sorry... it is not fair to the rest of my team. It is my job to keep the game play fair as well as the job of the other commander. If you do not like that "tuff". My gaming experince is as valuable as anyonelses.
I do not think Alleg is fun when I can not get advanced tech casue 10 experinced folks rush my mners and only 6 of my team respond and 4 do not understand what they need to do or what is even occuring. So no... I am not accepting all the new folks regardless.
PS the number of new folks per side is not what keeping teams even is about. I can have 3 0's and the other team could have none. If I have 4 Vet's that make things happen Like AARM or Saxy, IB or Champy, Sheff or Lyk, TMC or Spidey.... etc... then sure I can afford to take the inexperienced player.

"If I could remove all the people from the earth I think are stupid... would I be the only one left ? "Sunt superis sua iura -ovidI totally agree. When i've comm'ed there are always "key players" when there is not thing are just @#(!e. I used to accept just anyone but it dosn't work for a GOOD game that way.

guitarism wrote:QUOTE (guitarism @ Mar 26 2008, 08:42 AM) Now let me start by saying something simple.
When I started playing alleg, no matter who you were, you got on a team. Period. Even when I was a (0) and onwards, no matter what was going on, how the game looked, who was commanding, you got on. Period.
In the past 6 months, I have seen people not be allowed on teams because of "personality conflicts" or because they have #'s. Unacceptable. There is no reason for this at ALL. I don't care if the other team is camping your home and their is a bomber inbound from 2 sectors away to kill you. Let that noobie on. Why? Becuase if you don't, they leave. They leave, they don't come back. All because you can't be bothered to take that noob.
If you are DOWN PLAYERS, the other team has MORE NOOBS then you, and you STILL don't accept the ONE NOOB in the lobby asking, I'm going to start writing angry letters to BV and TE. Why? Because for your stupidity, arrogance and carelessness YOU DESERVE A BAN. I'm telling you this now because A notice is needed. WAKE UP! Get your HEAD out of that thing you call an ASS.
You know who you are, and you don't think I don't notice. Hell I yell at you from NOAT, offer to join your team too if you'll take the noob. I'm fed up with you guys not accepting noobs. If they hadn't accepted me into a team when I started playing, I wouldn't be here either. TAKE. THE. NOOBS.
Word! I agree wholeheartedly. It is a game and the more that play the funner it will be. If you take it so seriously you don't want others learning then go get a real life.
