I think there's people on both sides of the pods debate...There's a thread for that, feel free to ressurect it. I THINK there's also a thread for tech path discussion; not sure. If so, I'm gonna move this stuff there this evening (political science exam in about an hour, then pre-calc this afternoon) then bump those threads.

I'll make a series of polls in the summer to put the concepts into concrete form and see what people want.

Whath if we made all infantry pods?
What I mean is that if you're ejected, you're an infantry without weapons and you have to get home again. But you can also leave the base as an infantry unit, which would be a slightly better armored pod with weapons. You can still get home fast by bumping into a vehicle, but on the other hand, if you get killed as an infantry, you're dead imediatly, and your suit can only keep you alive for a set amount of time (this can vary between infantry types)

Noone will EVER leave a soldier without weapon. Its not like as if you need to make a gun mount on a pod. Its just take the bloody dirt cheap machinegun with you and a few grenades in your pocket. Even in WWII drivers had weapons and grenades.

True, but WWII vehicles didn't blow up quite as violently as quantum ones /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I guess you could give the escape suit a basic hand gun though.

in WWII soldiers did not survive in blown up veichles.

OTOH, veichles are not bound to a team? E.g. if someone will decide, he can "eject" from the veichle and leave it be there, with self-destruct timer on 20-60 seconds. But during this time opposite team can capture it and attain tech/veichle and use it in covert missions? /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> So much freedom.

we could do something like:
when a vehicle starts to flame, the pilot has say 5 seconds to get out

but if they dont? so much easier to die in it and get back to base... Seriously, there should be something pod-like, but not as straightforward as just those pods with wheels instead of rocket engine....
