The Academy is up on the new host. BUT with a minor issue. I am exploring options right now. (Meaning I am learning real quick about server sides, virtual vs file /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> )

So in order to access it for now, you must use this address:

www.alleg-academy.org/index.shtml or bookmark this link HERE

If you just use the old links, www.alleg-academy.org you will get an error message. Simply put the server is not recognizing the default .shtml file. Waiting to see if they can fix it on their end or I have to rewrite this end. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Can't you just shove a redirect in a default page that the server will recognize? Less than perfect solution, i know, but if you can't have it the way you want it, you gotta make do with the way it works.

Edit your .htaccess file:

Code: Select all

DirectoryIndex index.shtml

Site does not use a .htaccess file (Again, I am NOT an html wiz, so if someone knows how to create /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I have a redirect up now. So you can go either way, the original link or the index link.

Amazing what you can goggle when you need a quick script /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

pkk's code is the proper way to do a redirect, especially since about 10% of web users have JavaScript turned off.

The current redirect works for me, though /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If you need some help on SSI or how I organized something, I have my password and all so I can either repair it and/or teach you.

Won't break it /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I was going to spend some time on the details tomorrow. I believe I am on the right track with virtual vs file.

If I do run into problems, I'll PM you! Or do you know how to fix it for sure?

PW is the same. Go for it., Let me know so I don't stumble over you /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

And I use double redundancy backups. Including the exact original when I took over.
