I decided to grab a copy of Wings 3D after wandering around the forums here for a bit, so I figured I'd show off what is essentially the third thing I've made so far; a very very simple base!

This is a vertically styled base that will have four 'arms' projecting off of it's sides, with the entry port at it's bottom and the exit at the top. To additionally help differentiate between the two ports, the entrance is square, whilst the exit is round. Kind of like a GigaCorp Garrison, but a different arrangement. ...and not built into an asteroid. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Square entry port (bottom);

--

Round exit port (top);

--

I realize that it's on it's side. I'll probably scrap this and start over at some point, but it's a start at least.

Input?

Bases actually have to be oriented in some bizzare way in order to work right in game

Yeah I noticed that in the wiki article (which took way too much effort to find!) so I'm not too concerned about fixing it yet.

Ed: Now, any actual input on it?

First impression: poster makes useless comment where actual useful input was wanted.

Stay out of my thread unless you have something useful to say. /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" /> Or to be more precise, specify how it looks boring. One word tells me abso-bloody-lutely nothing.

Experimenting with some shield-like attachments for the arms. Definitely need to change a few things here as a lot of things are out of scale at the moment (the shields would be large enough to hide a fighter or two behind, for example, although this would obviously be subject to change and rather exploitable to be honest) like the docking ports, but it's getting there. Take in mind this is really just an experiment with integrating obvious docking and exit ports with the base structure, and should not be taken as the final thing by any means.

That looks more like a refinery, maybe a spec refinery.

I think I see what you mean. Maybe if the asteroid replaced the center cube?

I don't use Wings 3D, but I did use MilkShape 3D to mod some Phoenix models. One problem: MY TRIAL HAS EXPIRED!! GIMME A LICENSE CODE PLEASE!/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sad:" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> By the way, how do you input a license code for MS3D? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":unsure:" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Here are the modded Phoenix models anyway. (NOTE: Only the textures are modified, and nothing else. I intend to use these models in my new faction. Wait a min, I still have to study the game! We're just n00bs, Arcalane! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )
