No, societies are for increasing stats faster. For example I can gurantee you that by joining the SFTLOAAO you'll gain Commander Respect levels TWICE as fast. Plus I'll throw in an Anti-Stack Cap +3.

So I haven't even run the game yet, just downloaded it and made an account a few days ago with a few friends who used to play Jumpgate..
However after reading through the forums, and the multiple "I hate you stupid noobs" posts in the rant section, along with stuff like this...
I really only have one question for you vets.
Do you actually want new players to join?
Because if you continue with this constant bad attitude towards new players, we won't even make it past the forums. We'll just uninstall and pretend we never heard of it.
I'm still plan on checking it out, however out of the four of us who were going to, two just said "Why Bother" after reading through some of these posts.
To those vet's who are interested in more people joining, is the "Noob Friendly" population larger then the "Anti-Noob" that I've seen? I've read through the "Things that will annoy the hell out of other players" section at the academy, and about 99% of it makes perfect sense. It seems that to survive in this game as a noob, it's as easy as "Do what your told" and stay away from money ships in non newb games.
Anywho my .02 (Not that it really has any effect being that this is my first post)
