Okay folks, I just acquired the full version of Fraps (at long last) and have been taking movies of various Allegiance things, for example, a flawless Figbomma run and how to HTT. Since I'm qualified in-game (or commanders feel like nobody else can do it /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />) to do all sorts of crazy game ending and game critical actions (TP2, whatever), I thought about filming these and adding fancy captions/voice overs/arrows/etc. and hopefully make a training vid.

Now I have a few problems of course. The sort of training videos that need to be done, for example. Hosting fairly large (~50MB) files is another. And of course my Australian accent which may scare off newer players because they think "Tha Proz" of this game are barking mad foreigners with a serious case of bloodlust.

TL;DR'ers READ HERE
So help would be appreciated in the following areas:
1. The CDT dudes giving me an idea of what sort of game related tasks would be helpful to have on video
2. A host which can handle files from 40-100MB in size
3. People who feel like narrating training videos

----------

For people who don't know what I'm talking about, check out Lawson's excellent Constructor vs Constructor video somewhere on this site. That is the sort of thing I'm aiming to create.

Also, if the modern Allegiance needs a fancy, action packed trailer that could give newcomers an idea of what to expect in the game, I could take videos of the most action packed situations in games which I am known to frequent. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> And then create a trailer.

For a temporary hosting solution Megaupload could be something... only things are the advertisements and popups, and the 1-minute wait before it lets free users download. It also limits downloads to one per user at a time. Other than those, I have found it's not half bad to use, but then I haven't really used it that many times /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Talk to AEM, about 6 months ago this was on his agenda of things for a training website he is/was constructing. They would be hosted there I guess.

mesial could probably help you with the hosting, i'm not sure how much space he has now, but last i heard he had quite a bit i think.

unless you know someone on ts who speaks well, i would vote for hunting down lawson and getting him to do the talking

If you can get the videos hosted somewhere have players do the voice overs, submit them to you and you can pick the best ones. Or just ask Lawson to do it. I would add spidey to the list as he has a mellow voice and is well spoken.
It would be kind of great if they could be hosted in other languages as well.

What about youtube to host the videos? The quality is usually pretty crummy but I don't think people need to see the finer details of the graphics to get the point in a training video.

A video suggestion just from my experience yesterday - Rescue probe placement.

Youtube video quality will not do. No way.

This has been tried and you can't make out anything at that crappy resolution and quality.

I agree. We should upload this to Youporn instead. The quality there is excellent!
