Change the "newbie" server ban

Well, obviously someone can just change the name of a NORMAL server so that it boots all the ranks <4
regardless of the conequences im sure it will happen again in the future. It was only a matter of time.

So what if someone joins a newbie server? Its not necessary to hand out a 24h ban, just have ASGS boot them for 0 mins and lecture them with an automated message. Who cares?
Better yet, remove it completely.

Make the newbie severs set to only accept novices and have that setting locked.

Simple. At least you would think so.

I think the issue that needs to be addressed is not the fact that they are 24 hour bans, but the fact that it applies to any server with the 'newbie' name

Ok, so I want to whore newbies because my epeen is too small. I know I'll join the newbie server. I whore away and then the game ends. I get a 0 min ban. Oh dear. I join back up and rejoin the newbie server and whore again for another game. I get another 0 min ban. Oh dear. I join the newbie server again... Repeat until all newbies are sufficiently whored.

Here's an idea that would work well: Make the newbie protection apply to games that are named 'Newbie' and that do not allow empty teams. You can't rename those servers, so you would not be trapping anyone. And those are the newbie servers (With the exception of the Zone Game, which does not have 'Newbie' in the name)

You seem to lack the repressors to stop posting stupid @#(! that is annoying and not thought through.

Anyways, you underestimate the abuse that some so called "Vets" dish out to noobies whenever they get the chance. The noob servers would quickly become "Beating on the new guys" servers.

Guys, dont forget the reason the auto-bans were extended to ALL servers with "newbie" in the first place. I'm pretty sure that previously it was already bannable to be caught playing on the "designated" newbie servers. The problem arose when players like ryjamsan (who has been playing off and on since beta) realized they couldn't whore on the official newb servers anymore and started using custom game names to bait new players into a whore trap. He was making games like "newbies come here" or "newb training" so he could whore away in his little 5v5 game while getting around the letter of the law.

Rank locking seems like the ideal solution, but I think the reason it hasn't been implemented is so that @Allegs can still get in games to mediate disputes or to offer advice and answer questions from noat.

Rank locking went in with R4 (and admins are exempt) but it only works for server generated games (and apparently there is a way to reset the rank limit although I've not been able to do that in any of my testing, but that is an aside). My point is, rank locking is possible but it would only apply to the 'official' newbie servers and not address the issue Adaven just raised.

To those that did read that part, I think that @alleg can join it regardless, but im not sure for certain

I cant believe how readily you guys jump on my case, thinking I aprove of beating up on newbies.

As BV and some other blokes said, that wont stop people from making servers with the names newbie in them and whoring on them then. Read their whole posts.
