you need to uninstall vista service pack 1.

Goto All Programs / Windows Update .... on the lower left of that window, you'll see "installed updates" click that.

I think it's down at the bottom of the list KB936330. Right click it and uninstall.

That didn't work BUT, i fixed it by myself. it turns out that that error can also be caused if you have a static IP set up on Vista.

thanks for the help anyway!

now i get this:
• Connectivity failure. Check your internet connection.
• The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

I checked all of my connection settings but i still can't connect...

Check whether ASGS is allowed access to the internet on your firewall. Make sure IE is not in offline mode.

I'll do that.

any idea why a Static IP address would cause an error normally caused by .Net framework? The problem also blocked off access to photobucket and the battlefield 2142 server. now ASGS works and i can play battlefield and go on photobucket but i can't host Warcraft 3 games.
strange...

Can you duplicate this error?

In other words, if you change your IP to static, will it produce this same error message again?

Can you confirm this for us?

same thing happens. no photobucket or BF 2142. the .net error doesn't come back.
ASGS still can't connect.

Your Warcraft 3 problem is because once you're on dynamic IP, any port forwards you have set up become invalid. You need to forward Battle.NET ports to properly host Blizzard games. One solution might be to set up port triggering.

Doesn't explain photobucket or BF2142...

I fixed that problem. I had only set up my static IP with one DNS address but i think my ISP uses 2.

I'll try the port triggering with warcraft 3.
