think we can compile a list of drivers that we know work. it seems a bit of a pain trying to find them, nvidia's site seemed to only give me an archive for quadro drivers
i just downloaded ForceWare 158.27 XP WHQL (32-bit) from
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1644
seems to work for my
GeForce 8600GT
nVidia 8800 GT 512 MB, crappy frame rate
Forceware 169.21 is broken when running on a 8800GTS 640 mb under Windows XP 64 bit.
Forceware 97.94 runs just fine on the same system.

they fixed it in the next one? (do you mean the beta driver 169.28 )Grimmwolf_GB wrote:QUOTE (Grimmwolf_GB @ Feb 3 2008, 12:31 AM) I have seen the future and I love it.
i think it may have been to do with the 2d ui drawing. i had about 6-12 fps on the game yesterday, but as soon as i got pked, for the time where it shows you the space where you got pked, i had 60 fps, then it dropped when i got back into base (in base was about 30?) flaying was 6 - 12 (less than 6 when a lot was happening)

No, Forceware 169.28 (which is a beta release) does NOT resolve the fps problem.madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Feb 3 2008, 10:10 AM) they fixed it in the next one? (do you mean the beta driver 169.28 )
There may be a dev side solution to this but it is too early to make any promises, it may work great but it may turn out there are too many problems, we just don't know yet. I would not count on something from the dev side resolving this anytime soon unfortunately (although I have my fingers crossed).
The only thing that currently works for my 8800 GT WinXP Pro is the drivers that shipped with the card (167.26 I think). And that still has some issues (memory corruption where the screen gets splochy) that can usually be resolved with switching between windowed and full screen (although sometimes that leaves you with a totally black screen in which case a hard reboot is necessary).

Well, I'm getting BSOD's with my old drivers, so I have to upgrade to +100's, making my frame rate crawl at a measly 12 fps or so.. in the hope that it will solve my blue screens. Are there any current devs working on updating the calls? If the game is still utilizing dx8 directdraw (now depricated, not included in dx9) calls to render the GUI that could definitely explain A) crazy GUI artifacts (experienced by immortal, for one), andDogbones wrote:QUOTE (Dogbones @ Feb 7 2008, 10:58 AM) No, Forceware 169.28 (which is a beta release) does NOT resolve the fps problem.

I suppose this could be easily tested by simply disabling the in-game GUI and building it.. anyone up for giving it a shot?

what happens to your fps when you get pked (best if someone flies through where you can see for the few secs you're watching the space you got killed)Technical Wonder wrote:QUOTE (Technical Wonder @ Feb 13 2008, 10:06 PM) I suppose this could be easily tested by simply disabling the in-game GUI and building it.. anyone up for giving it a shot?
