That is very very very nice. I demand you mail me a working one, and that it be here by Thanksgiving.
Anyway.
It...needs something. Some odd way of loading it. Bullets in the cogs of the gear? I don't know. I very much like the model though. I just think, to justify having a gear cog as the trigger, and sticking out the back, it needs something.

The gear can hold the ammunition. Each tooth of the gear could be a round, and each time you fire it rotates the next one into the chamber, then another tooth comes out of the gear to replace the one that was fired (or maybe just fit more teeth onto the gear). You could have the gear spin rapidly for full auto or just click forwards for single shots. When you reload you replace the gear.
It's a rather odd way of working but it would look cool.
