We have finally done it. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> The material that will be used for the Cadet I course is now publicly viewable on the Allegiance Academy. Go to the main page of the Academy and use the "Cadet I - Newbie Guide" link on the menu.
What is Cadet I? The whole concept behind this material is to take a brand new player and get him to where he is not lost in game and can make a basic contribution to his team. It is really two items. The first part is the publicly viewable material for a new player to read at their own pace OR signup for the future Cadet I programs that will use that material. It will be a three week long course conducted within our forums here. It will allow private Q&A and help from the @Cadet staff.
PLEASE DIRECT NEW PLAYERS TO THAT MATERIAL!
There will be a transition period while we complete the next stages.
Upcoming changes:
The first Cadet I class is planned to kickoff the first weekend of November. Signup can be done now from within the new Cadet I webpages.
What is now known as the Cadet program will run it's last session starting on the 27th. It will probably be tweaked abit to use the new Cadet I material the first few weeks.
What is now the "Cadet" program will be renamed Cadet II. There will be a few months of transition while we complete writing the new material for Cadet II. We will use the current material until Cadet II is complete, target date of Feb. 2008. This is in the early stages of content planning. Cadet II when complete will focus on taking an intermediate player and preparing him for SQUAD play. Completion of Cadet I or the old Cadet program will be required along with a minimum of game play time. (TBD)
The old "Crash Course" has been pulled from the Academy. The old Advanced course will be tweaked over the next two weeks and reposted as "Intermediate Training". That will be a stagnant reading source with no support. (Pretty much a combination of old cadet material, the old crash course, etc.)
So the Academy website will be undergoing a few changes over the next week. Old links will no longer work to the crash course or it's material. Until the Wiki staff can change links the wiki might be out of date. Plus as I cleanup links on the Academy.
Last, I can not thank enough all of the people who helped put this together. Credits are listed at the end of the course. I know I missed some folks /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
The content of this course will surely under go many revisions and changes as we use it with the new sessions. IF you have a legitimate suggestion or correction, PM me directly. But understand we spent months debating the content and have tried to keep it somewhat basic.
